MR, remember to make time for yourself. You deserve it.
Thanks, Phil . I couldn't have done it without Zeppo , of course.

Euuuwww... backlog!
The snow that fell on Saturday is now trying to decide whether to become ice or water - I absolutely abhorr the neither-nor kind of weather. What's the point with snow if it only melts? I'd rather have rain - less danger of slipping...

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Dec 8, 2003
We will have rain on Wednesday, but that will probably bring flooding since the snow will not have melted yet.
I think the proper OOP syntax would be
Zeppo.hunt(squirrel)
Which in Hypertalk would come out like
tell Zeppo to hunt(squirrel)
I think my problem with understanding OOP comes down to my brain insisting on "understanding" objects to be libraries, and methods to be procedures. That kind of works, until you get into writing OOP code properly. When I write in Java, it comes out all procedural.
Zeppo.lick(Amy)
d'Elaphant.work()

I hope the reopening is going well, Hypatia.
Btw, I have finally finished Baudolino and now know more about hypatias . I now am trying to decide whether to follow on with Life of Pi or go for something lighter.
On the tenant front, I have asked the letting agents to contact them and offer to hand over the deposit in exchange for the keys and vacant possession. I shall then have to pay for cleaning and/or repairs out of my own pocket, but feel it would be a small price to pay to resolve the problem. However if they don't accept this, then the whole deposit thing is a smokescreen and they are planning on being made homeless and I shall be forced to go to the Courts.

Good luck, Caer!
I think of myself as a slow learner because I feel as if I have to understand everything about a topic before I admit to understanding anything.
You just tried to slip a new piece of syntax past me -- zeppo dot hunt??
No wonder people aren't talking properly these days, if programming languages are blurring the distinction between a doing and a being.

Ah, good old propositional logic. And if ~(s) then anything goes.
Weather is rolling in from the west. I need to race it to the Mighty Walmart.

An inch or two of snow so far and it keeps going.

if (homework.done == true)
{
Affy.getLunch(money);
Affy.celebrate();
Affy.countDown--;
}
*So saying, Affy pulls The Sign(tm) from some corner, quickly reprograms it and sets it up. It now reads "Classes Left In The Week" instead of "Emblems Collected In Sonic Adventure 2". Affy hits the sign, watches the number go from "19" to "18", and heads off for lunch*

NPR's Morning Edition had a story on Billy today. It is about halfway down this page:

Binary sexuality...I hope you've trademarked that phrase MR. I can see it getting popular.
Everyone was discussing the Siemens brand of products a few LEDs back. I wonder if anyone in the Atelier has either cooked with or knows about the quality of Circulon pots and pans?

Afgncaap5 Posted Dec 8, 2003
Can't say that I'm familiar with those pots and pans. I generally don't look into the brand names.

I wouldn't even attempt to understand any of the talk, but one thing Lil said made me think.
"... if programming languages are blurring the distinction between a doing and a being."
Is that a bit like the way some nouns have become verbs? For example, a sport commentator saying that someone had "medalled" at the last Olympics.

morrowind was a very fast passing fat in our house, Marv. As much as I liked the open-ended gameplay, there was always something lacking that I couldn't put my finger on.
Of course now it is Final Fantasy XI day in day out. You should give it a try, Marv, though it does cost quite a bit with the monthly payments so maybe that's not the best thing at the moment.

CIRCULON
My spouse, who has a certain affection for expensive merchandise, informs me that this brand is worthy of purchase.
I don't argue!
