I can't wear skirts in hot weather. I'd love to, they look all breezy and cool, but alas, being a plump woman whose plumptiousness is highly evident in the thigh department, there is no way I can do skirts. Smart shorts sound like a deeply clever idea. My legs are quite nice from the knee down.
We had a very brief thunderstorm. It is now cooler outside, but it is taking an awful long while for the inside of the flat to cool down too. Excellent in winter, total pain in tuckus in July.

>> > We are English!!!! We should have Standards dammit!!!!!
>>
And to you too, Mikerhike. I'm sure all you douce Scots wouldn't want to be associated with the peculiarly English sort of hissy-tantrum I was throwing there. Besides which, it's a symptom of good English manners that I overlook the fact that we are, in fact, in mixed company here.
Teuchter, it took my wunch about three months to check me out and all they were doing was making sure that I didn't owe any credit cards anything I couldn't pay off. *sigh* They do seem to be particularly inefficient about this. I'm curious which wunch he's working for. I know I'm going to want to change employers by the time I finish my MSc. I am finding out *far* more about the main players in this industry than is good for me.
Dr Z is well, and will finish his mammothon tomorrow. He decided that you can't be a real junior doctor unless you work 5,000,000 hours a week, so he's had one day off in the last three weeks. He's remarkably chipper on it. I suspect that he's allocated time this weekend to getting his PC up and running again. Whether or not he'll manage it is another matter.
Went out on a jolly this evening. Driving home there were at least two major fires, possibly three. One was clearly a large section of moorland. Not sure if the other(s) were landscape or buildings. I thought of your mountains, Lil. I don't like it when landscape burns.

Glad to hear that Z is well, even if he is working far too hard.
G's wunch is one of my lot - the blue-blooded one, if that makes sense.
Were the fires due to lightening strikes - or just tinder dry foliage? Very scarey, either way.
Time for bed - tired people have agreed to work an extra day tomorrow

> It is just that the combination of white legs and black body-hair is not really what I want to see walking down the corridor towards me as I go to a meeting.
Which is a bit odd, as you'd think the constant exposure of his legs to the outdoors would result in some sort of tan.
> Oh and the kilt should be worn just above the knee. Again too long looks ridiculous.
In Texas, kilts are worn - but they're usually made out of canvas, and worn with T-shirts rather than the Prince Charlie regalia. Some people do wear full kilt, but they're masochists.
And if you wear too long of a kilt, they'll call you a braggart. (I won't elaborate, but it's about a certain body part.)
> Camo kilts and their ilk are simply vulgar and unsightly.
I have a feeling that canvas kilts will be more fashionable, as Britain continues to heat up.
> And even with the socks, my calves will have exposed tattoos. Hmm, I wonder how that will look when all is said and done...
Looks just fine on the guys I see around here. Tattoos on the legs seem to be de rigeur, actually.
> I was wearing my jolly red sandals today, and have been punished for it. I dropped a large box of journals on my toe.
Inanimate objects seem to know when my toes aren't protected, and go hurtling down toward them. Especially knives and sharp-cornered books.

Teuchter - I hope that Ben got it, I didn't.
Ben, once you've left, if you ever feel like spilling the beans, do let me know.
I have whistles of all sizes.

Ahh, yes… over near Slice?

Pah! I have it on good authority that the only university which counts is Oxford.
Anyway… the record’s now straight on the Mickey Mouseness of the subject (I genuinely didn't know what it was all about ), but can I still keep my amusement about it being yet another thing which people feel needed to have science tacked on to it when everyone got on fine for years without?

Now that I think about it I wouldn’t mind a leg tattoo at some point (but the Prydonian Seal on the upper arm is my first priority).

Ah, but I suspect that he only wears them indoors.
Mikerhike - there's been nothing to cause me any kind of ethical or moral dilemma, it's just that I'm finding rather a lot out about *all* the wunches, and very interesting it is too.
Now, who was it here who'd been to Azerhbijan? And why didn't they tell us more about it when they mentioned it?

It is Friday this morning. Weird warm and dull. Tatoos look stupid on old blokes I wonder what they'll look like on old birds. Ponders his navel, if he could see it.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted Jul 28, 2006
I was on holiday once and this young woman about 20 had a tatoo from neck to rear end about 4 inches across, like Robbie williams arm ones but denser in pattern, I thought it didn't exactly look great at 20, what would it look like at 60? We are not talking a couple of half hour lazer sessions here, yuk. What was strange was she was really pretty, not a punk or skinhead, a small tattoo on base of spine or ankle is one thing, but this was way OTT.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Jul 28, 2006
Why is it OTT? If someone wants a big tattoo they can have one as long as it's not done on a whim.
Plus I have to admit to having a bit of 'a thing' for heavily tattooed women (as long as the tattoos are artistic, well done and coherent that is)

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted Jul 28, 2006
It was OTT because it was ugly, certainly not artistic as looked like a very ugly wallpaper border in very heavy thick black ink, it also looked like a man's tattoo. It looked like something you would do to someone on a drunken night out as a cruel joke.

Fair enough... I just get a bit narked when people go on the basis that the only people who should have large tattoos are punks, weirdos or uglies (because, frankly, what the has her being pretty got to do with it?)

In fact I have to say that I strongly resemble this remark... you're basically saying that punks (and, therefore, any 'alternative' person) can't be pretty.
