Does the fellow in question wear a smart, stylish hat when going outside the office during times of short wearing?

At first I thought that fellow might be Bermudian, but he's got the socks wrong. They ~must~ be knee socks.

t1926m, welcome to the atelier. If you haven't already done so, please have a look at our forum page at A304354, where you can find out all about the Atelier and what it's about.
Would you mind disengaging your caps key? Posts that are all capitals are considered a form of shouting in online talk. There is only one person who is allowed to talk in capital letters, and he's a well-known character in the Terry Pratchett novels.

Bl**dy hell!
there is a mega storm here, torrential rain, lightening hitting things and strong winds!
It feels like we may get a mini tornado again as wind is horizontal at times, just like when we had mini tornado a couple of years ago that took a couple of roofs off.
There are sirens rushing around and instant lightening/thunder claps.
....I know I was walking through park a couple of hours ago and thinking it is sad that conker trees had decided to drop their leaves to save their life as so dry, but didn't expect all the rain in one hour!
The temperature has dropped from 32c to 18c in an hour.

THING!!!
Do you ever get one of those days when everything is just off? today, i have been, just, off. Off form,off-speed and just generally not 100% me. Weird and unpleasant. Still, I will fix it by tomorrow.
Ben - I wouldn't wear shorts to work - then again, I do live where the sun don't shine. I wouldn't wear shorts to a bar either (never mind a restaurant) - and stuck to that rule even when I was in a hot place. Explains why my legs are dazzling white.
I'm not even sure about women wearing those long smart office short thingies.
> We are English!!!! We should have Standards dammit!!!!!
You need to have the right legs to wear a kilt too. Marv - I think you get get away with a tattoo, but it does depends on the tats.
I'm still after a linen suit. If I can keep it looking less crumpled than me.
>perfectly normal business shirt, possibly a tie, and knee length blue serge shorts.

I *love* when that happens.

Mol - on the new tablet Posted Jul 27, 2006
Massive storm here last night - I ended up with all 3 kids in my bed with me. I'm sure they have more than two elbows each.
Have cooked 126 pancakes and 42 portions of treacle pud, bolognese in freezer, chicken casserole done, fish and chips supplier identified, bread supplier identified, still got 20 lists to make and some equipment to check. This time tomorrow my lawn will be covered with camping equipment and we'll be waiting for the truck. This time Saturday we'll be making our way to the arena for the opening ceremony.
So ... unless I make it to the on-site internet cafe ... this is me signing off, to spend a week catering for 33 hormonal girls who are on a campsite with approximately 5,000 boys . I'm hoping our pitch is near to the sea scouts again ... See you all soon

Have a fab camp, Mol. Hope the weather's kind to you - neither too hot nor too wet.
mikerhike - did you ever get all your bank stuff sorted out?
I've had a lot of patients coming to see me in shorts - not that I notice their legs, since I'm too busy concentrating on the other end.
Mr D - ahem.
My eldest has an honours degree in Sport Science from the Univ of Glasgow. It's not a micky-mouse subject - they spent the first two years doing pure science. She specialised in physiology for the next two years and then went on to do a Masters.
She kens an affa lot about the physics and physiology of running and jumping. And she got to do a project involving male rugby players stripped to the waist and sweating.
So there

Sandals at work. Bad idea. I was wearing my jolly red sandals today, and have been punished for it. I dropped a large box of journals on my toe.

Nope, it's no good, I can't do it. Hoping it should be sorted tomorrow. If not I'll be in the branch by the afternoon.
Fit fit de yer sheen fit?
2 years of physiology to get to study rugby lads half nekkid? I bet I wouldn't be allowed to do that with the women's archery team, but I think it's a fair trade.

Banks?
Remember me mentioning No3's job application to one of the wunches?
They're still fannying around and the latest bit of news is that it might take another 12 weeks to complete the security checks.
I don't think it's a case of them not wanting him - they soon told his friend he wasn't suitable for the job.
I made him send a snotty covering letter with the second application form - they'd managed to lose the first one - pointing out that it was now over 12 weeks since his initial interview.
Maybe he should suggest they pay him a retainer - if they still want him.
I've suggested he tell them he wants a job in _their_ department, since they're so patently useless and need a bit of help.

I seem to remember this, yes. What kind of check is it they're doing? basic and enhanced background checks don't usually take that long. mmine did, but that's because I didn't appear to exist for a few years.
no3 still registered as unemployed?
There's a program on TV about hidden watergardens and lakes of Japan. now I feel homesick too. But how they've managed to makeit look so unspoiled is beyond me.

My ankles got wet in the rain. It was alarmingly pleasant.
I was idly flicking through one of those women's mags giving earnest advice to women on the subject of Shorts at Work the other day. There are rather a lot of women wondering around in smart knee length shorts at the moment. And I find myself thinking 'but surely a skirt is cooler?' Is this some kind of feminist thing (Must Wear Trouser Shaped Garments)?
