Lil, you'll have to see if you can get a recording of your radio program- we're all going to want to hear it.
As for going dotty, doesn't one need to be rich to really pull it off ? Then you can be merely eccentric...
Sol, were you really that close to bombings in the UK ? I didn't think they happened that often there anymore.

No, but for example, the one that took out the Arndale Centre (mall) in the middle of Manchester was while I was at Uni there. And I have been known to go shopping... I think I was just insulted that time by the way that I was the only person not to have their parents ringing up in hysterics that time. What it is to have sensible parents.

If my calculations are correct, we have posted 50180 posts as Conversations at Lil's. This is in 79 conversations (keeping in mind that we Roswell'd 4AXth-4FXth) for an average of 635 posts per conversation.
Yes I was bored tonight, how could you tell?

Opened to today's mail to find a letter from the Planning Department about a proposed development close to us. We knew it was in the offing.
A planning application has been received to build 12 houses on land made up of several gargens, with access to our little bit of road by knocking down the house next door but one.
I know we can't stop the development as this is exactly the sort that local and national Govt are pushing for. Also it won't directly affect us, except in increased traffic flow, but our view from upstairs will not be the same, which is not an argument in the planning process.
All we can hope for is a reduction in the number of houses, which is probably what the developers expect anyway.

I hate Planning matters . When I came back from Dubai I found that my neighbour at the back had "borrowed" part of my garden to build his extension and then the shop next door also applied for planning permission for something at the same time. They were all listed buildings and I seemed to spend weeks at the Planning Office.

Another Tuesday...Another kids program. Today we're doing books made into movies and will show part of The Hobbit. Then Thursday we'll do Hobbit holes and other unusual homes and buildings and show the rest of the movie. I got a local business to loan us a large screen tv. and a friend of mine has a popcorm machine.

Good morning y'all! *heads to the kitchen* Tea, anyone?
I'm going to rearrange my habits starting tomorrow; instead of logging on first thing I'll be heading over to the shed, I mean, photographic studio to work while it's cool. I'm spending more and more time online in the morning and I'm losing out on a viable time for RL stuff. This will probably average out to the same amount of time online, but differently arranged for those of you who were setting your watch by my appearance... ;- )
Only 50,000+ posts, Marv? It feels more like millions!
Bryce, I'll certainly be getting a tape -- after all, I'll be so nervous that I won't hear what's going on as it happens, if you know what I mean.
I have a life-long allergy to shellfish, so it was most embarrassing when I went over to the Winters for dinner last night to see a shrimp fried rice dinner, together with green peppers, a vegetable that is indigestible for me. M.L. (even her husband calls her that) was deeply consternated and fried me a hamburger, so I dined well on the meat, broccoli, and two portions of rice carefully picked out of the wok. It was delicious, too -- mushrooms and walnuts and cherry tomatoes and onions... Apart from that, it was a lovely evening. The population of this town is small and yet a significant proportion have advanced degreees or are intelligent autodidacts.

An allergy to shellfish is a terrible thing. I don't know *what* I would do without the comforts of lobster tail or shrimp scampi.

Personally I can't see why anyone would want to eat shellfish.

Picking over a plate of mussells is one of my favorite ways to make a mess of restaurant tablecloths

When I was pregnant, the smell of fish and shellfish made me feel ill, and it was quite a while before I could eat it again, but one of the great joys in life is tearing into a crab...with drawn butter.

I'm with Phil. But you can expand that feeling to anything aquatic. I don't like seafood of any stripe.
Lil, is your problem with shellfish the Iodine? That is why my dad can't eat much shellfish.
Key: Complain about this post
