Congratulations Toc! smiley - bubbly

What is going on? The site was slow even at eight o'clock this morning. It can't be net congestion at that hour of the day.

I think the problem's at the BBC end. I've had trouble on broadband, when other pages I was downloading were coming down at full speed. And I've seen the same at home as well as at work. smiley - blue

I keep getting the BBC lost page, saying that h2g2 can't be found. My broadband has been slow since I got it, sometimes down to 'bites' (sp?) per second not KB/s!

That doesn't sound right, Toc. My broadband fair zips along. Have you got the modem that looks like a dark pink trilobite?

Definitely dodgy - posting takes ages, loading pages takes ages - but only this site

I thought that there was some good stuff at the Tate Modern. You do need to look hard to find it. Not quite sure about if it's designed to make you think of the question of 'what is art' or 'what is it that makes some people come up with all this pretentious twaddle about art'. I did get the MJ & Bubbles thing, I remember seeing it in the paper several years ago and thought it rubbish then as well! As you say Lil, the yoyo stand does look like it should be somewhere. Perhaps we should all buy them, hire a hall and exhibit them as art smiley - winkeye

Well done on getting post 4242 Toc smiley - smiley

Yay, Toc! smiley - bubbly

I knew I would miss the 4242 post as I had to go out.

I'm hoping H and I will get to the Private Viewing at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition tomorrow evening.

My modem is ntl's standars box thingy.

There were a few things I liked at The Tate Modern.

There was a little stand and projector, projecting an image of a lightswitch onto the wall. That made me smile.

There was a piano hung on the ceiling that 'exploded' with an almighty noise every 15 mins or so, then all folded back in again to re-explode later. The poor woman who was walking under it when it went was a sight to see!

It was things like a few fluorecent tubes stuck on the wall, or a entirely red canvas alongside a blue canvas that I didn't 'get' the point of.

I much prefer my art to look like someone has put some skill & effort in smiley - winkeye

Yes, me too, but it's all subjective - eye of the beholder 'n' all that smiley - winkeye - which means you can argue your corner from now to eternity and achieve nothing.... smiley - erm I believe Tate Modern is a big success in terms of the visitors it attracts; I haven't been myself.

I'm all for modern art, being in favor of abstracts mostly.

I don't know anything about ntl's broadband, Toc. For some reason I'm not surprised it isn't working well though smiley - erm.

Amy, I forgot to ask you. Did your sausage people get back to you about the sugar content? Is it indeed from smoking?

I haven't had a reply yet, Spork. That's unusually slow for Marks and Spencers smiley - sadface.

I'm happy to admit that 'modern art' isn't my thing, and I know that plenty of folks do like it. It's just one of those things. I much prefer the Pre-Raphaelites such as J.W. Waterhouse.

I'm not too fussed Amy, I assume that its a busy line.
