Oh, no. Did the other one break?

*there is a strange blue glitter in her eyes*
Sporky, have some blue phlog.

Once there was a researcher who liked to busk in the lavatories at the Aroma Cafe. He played a saxophone in which lived a blue fairy, and every now and then the fairy would emerge and wreak havoc upon the consciousnesses of those researchers present.

One day the busker (what was his name?) decided to leave h2g2, but before he left he bequeathed his saxophone to the Aroma Cafe.

There were once many interesting artificacts at the cafe, but since Irv had to put the whole place on autopilot, those things have fallen into the limbo of forgetting. Lil decided to remove the saxophone, whereupon much blue powder fell out. This powder was found to be a very potent substance when mixed with alcoholic beverages, although SOME researchers tried ingesting it directly, didn't they Sporky? And its effect on Zeppo is alarming.

So Lil put the saxophone into the care of Styx the Rat, and he in turn took it to Rathome, somewhere in the depths of the cave system. Occasionally Lil receives a small vial of powder; Chloe finds it next to a mouse hole or in the linen closet, and brings it to Lil.

I can't remember that researcher's name. smiley - erm He used to play so beautifully. I remember that we propped the saxophone up on the player piano as a work of art for a while...

Is Ook still at the cafe? Or has he been forgotten as well? *is becoming sentimental, in danger of maudlin*

*train of thought bursts into pieces* What's the origin of the word 'maudlin'?

I remember him, Lil. That was Bahb... U133809. He played a mean saxophone.

Arlecchino (school gets in the way)

Irv doesn't remember Bahb, the Saxophone must have been after his time smiley - winkeye

And yes, whomever asked, Irving Washington and Arlecchino are the same person.

I have been currently stranded in Flagstaff for a weekend. You see, Flagstaff, Arizona, is where I go to school, but this weekend being Thanksgiving, all of my friends have been out of town, and I didn't have much school work to do. Which afforded me enough time to get some posts in here under this screen name.

I don't think this level of free time will last (especially since I've been putting a FEW things off smiley - winkeye ).

Welcome back Arl

(I had no idea he and Irv where one the same either)

T, what's this little anouncement you slipped into the Winter party convo? That partly explains his long absence from hootoo.

Mac (having trouble typing with a pug dog in his lap)

*Mac begins drawing floats, filling the mugs three quarters full of rootbeer from barrel, then topping them off with soft ice-cream from the Taylor, the swirl of ice-cream standing 2 inches above the rim of the mug. They are served with a long spoon and a straw.*

I could explain in excruciating detail how this is done if you like, or I could just draw them for you. Mind you don't aggitate them or they flash into foam and go off like volcanoes, I do not exaggerate.

I don't know if the blue powder will do anything in them as they don't have any alcohol, floats don't even have caffiene.

I think I'll steer clear of the phlog. The paper on Marx is going nowhere fast, and I doubt phlog will help.

Arl, just go down to the Monte V and have a drink. Or take yourself out to the brewery there. Or go have some Evil Jungle Princess at Dara Thai for me.

*sigh*

Well I am back from my trip to LA. I got to see MR again as well as another researcher who is no longer part of this conversation. I missed out on seeing Sea as she was ill. I partied like a rockstar in Hollywood (in a cowboy bar... No really, a cowboy bar in HOLLYWOOD) and paid the price for it the next day with a light wallet a splitting hangover and a new cowboy hat. I also seem to have lost my glasses. Oh well, I will just use the old ones as soon as I find a screw for the temple on them.

I will finnish backlog when I can actually read everything. Caer, give Cassie smiley - cat a good pat on the head for me.

I am taking tomorrow off of work so I can catch up on backlog then and recover from a 10.5 hour, 700 mile drive from LA to SLC.

I best not tempt the fates, Lil. Besides, a drink just isn't the same as the real thing...

I caught an encore presentation of Tuesday's Nova on Friday. Great stuff! Was surprised by the appearance of Susan Orlean (as the show was about an orchid hunter) and... well, not surprised, what with the quasi-film adaptation of The Orchid Theif (Adaption, literally: see http://www.susanorlean.com/adaption for more info). It was a great show which isn't surprising as this is one of the best series on television, IMHO.

BTW, for This Old House lovers, there is indeed a new series called The New This Old House on PBS. Check your local listings or possibly http://www.pbs.org for more info.

These past four days have seemed like a week or two- the vacation was greatly needed
