Marv -
I understand about the IE/Netscape issue, I used to love Netscape, however they have not stayed with the current technology. Netscape invented JavaScript, however they do not support some of the features of JavaScript .... etc.
Being a backend developer on the web, and doing some front end work, it is irritating that I can develop a site to w3c standards, and it won't work on Netscape, I will then need to devote about 30% of the project to dealing with exceptions Netscape has to standards based code ..... definitely irritating.

Weren't the credits great? Red Dog did 99% of the work - I only contributed one or two of the pictures and a little of the text. We created them before everyone got to the indian village, so there were a few tricky moments where we had to make the real story follow what we had anticipated in the credits.
How did everyone like the adventure? I know that Red Dog and I had a blast (and I think Lil and d'E and sea did too). There were a few occasions when some action was happening and some of us couldn't be online. On those occasions, we had to play the other person's characters. For example, at Peta Gulch, during the day, I played all of the bad guys since Red Dog couldn't log in from work. Then later he took over and played them all (at least the ones that were left) after I left work and couldn't get online. Similar things happened at the pass, the ranch and the indian village. I could never do justice to A Man Called Jello, though, so I posted as him as little as possible.
All of the special location pages were created by Red Dog - Peta Gulch, the Ranch, the Indian Village. We really owe him a big thank-you for all his efforts.
He is currently in the process of moving to the UK from the US and can't get online too much, but he knows about this conversation and will read it at some point.

Courtesy. I understand your pain. But as the years have passed I find myself more and more anti-IE. I never have liked the "feel" of tht browser and I have been using NS since 2.x. I really see a difference in the way that it handles things. The next closest would have to be Moz, but it is not realyy ready for prime time. I also see the need to make sites usable for programs like lynx or the progs that convert from html to braille for the blind. Many sites fail to do that (most really).
But as long as there is a choice, I refuse to use IE. And it is not the standards comliant sites that I have trouble with. It is the sites that make use of IE only features because they are Shiny(tm) and the developer likes them. Now by doing so he is guarenteing that I will not be using his site, buying his product, or recommending it to my friends.

All the Netscape/IE stuff goes right over my head, I'm afraid. But as most sites I connect to usually involve shopping/cinema/theatre/travel or a combination of all them, I suppose its hardly surprising.
However it must be rather vital if you are actually designing and constructing websites. No doubt H would happily give me a crash course, as he loves teaching. But as we are forgoing alcohol during the week, I think it may be more than my system can stand!

I'm in total agreement that sites should not use browser specific code. I just hate that it takes so much time to make a site work with all browsers
People who code with non-standard code should be ..... well let's just say that I'm not in favor of that.

*as Matina serves Marv some strong black coffee in an oversize FTTF mug, Chloe comes in from the library bearing a large white envelope which she hands to Lil*
*looking at the address* Floradora, it seems that, while he was staying here, your fiance took time to write a new will. *holds up the envelope which says, in florid but wobbly script, "LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JAMES ARTHUR BOTTOMLEY-WEBJELLO III" and is dated just several days ago*
Chloe found this while she was cleaning the room. As his closest relation by intent, you ought to be the one to open it. *hands the envelope to Floradora*
Thank you Chloe. Matina, could you make fresh tea, please? We seem to be a lively crowd today!
Garius, I've just realised that I have every excuse to redecorate! But shall I wait till after the big 7 November Masque?

Love those credits
Even though I don't take part in the adventures.
Just found another little diversion, for those that have the bandwidth.

I may have to go read the adventure threads now to get an idea of what went on, based solely on the strength of the credits.

Hey, wait! I get the FTTF mug! *pretends to pout*
FG, go back to the first page. In the second posting, there's a link to sea's USC site, with credits for the recent rescue of Lil. I am, for some reason, a man with long straight hair and a large, bushy mustache. But the chaps are nice.

Masque? What masque? Hey - you can't post things like that *here* - at least not without questions to follow!
Does anyone know if there's an empty gif somewhere on the h2g2 servers? Because that would solve the Netscape problem with empty data cells...
I thought I had found it here:
http://www.h2g2.com/h2g2/skins/brunel/images/t.gif
...because it looked empty - but it turned out to be 611x30 pixels...

I've done half of my "test" but I'm disturbed by the communicate images. Do any of these look decent?

Oh shush you! Picking on an old person like me.
I was referring to any of the communicate images in general. I'd like to see what they look like but I can't seem to find any.
here is the one i did for size matters but please don't laugh as I can't seem to get a nicely anti-aliased circle nor can I get a decent communicate image. But then, I suppose that's what the rest of the community artists are for, right? To help bang out these sorts of bumps?

Also, for image number 1 should I have switched out the white for the blue? It could be done...

Thanks MR. I just wish Photoshop could do a decent anti-aliased circle. I fear I have to wait until I get home and open up that blasted Illustrator to do the job.
