Amy, perhaps coely can offer some insight in how to handle the situation.
On another topic, I saw a rather large pile of lumber in my driveway when I got home from work this afternoon.

Oh dear Amy, would it take too much effort to do two lesson plans? A sort of standard and advanced level?
Mikerhike, I've been so ill I've barely been snogging my husband, let alone anyone else

WM - What kind of driveway do you have? All this stuff just arrives?
Kelli - that rules out one source. Maybe the veggies have Asian veggie flu?

We are doing a major house remodel here at Casa Moniker, mikerhike.
Here are a few 'before' pictures.

Must snap a few more tomorrow. The siding is completely stripped off and the house is down to the Tyvek wrap.

looks like a fun house already! I love that little (hexagon?) porthole window in the fourth picture.
What's Tyvek wrap?

Witty Moniker Posted Mar 2, 2006
I believe Tyvek is a vapor barrier. It goes between the plywood sheathing and the outside layer of siding.
All the windows are being replaced with the exception of the little octagon. I that little window.

Oh, I see. I'm glad that you aren't getting rid of the octagon window. I thought you might replace it (the glass) but I hoped you wouldn't get rid of it altogether. I actually it too, and I've decided I'm having one in my house. Now all I need is to get the house.

I do agree that a couple of the smilies aren't what I would have done, but being in absentia from the Yahoo Groups artists site, I haven't been able to critique and monitor the quality... I am curious why the wasn't used - it's in the style of my smiley. Maybe they couldn't get the art off the YahooGroups site, although that doesn't seem likely.

Interesting Photos WM! You seem to have a lovely house already. I have to admit that I can't quite get the hang of houses being built out of wood, but then if that's what you're used to then brick houses must seem equally strange.
I'm off to bed, having finished the proof of competencies I need for my job application. Really enjoying work at the moment! Still busy though. Glad things are a bit better at work B ().
Right, just going to check Fluff's ok then off to bed..

I'm essay writing tonight.
This week the local council started doing paper and card collections with the domestic rubbish. The university, despite the best efforts of the students, is dreadful about recycling in halls-it has a tendancy to be removed as a fire risk.

Tomorrow morning, Mountain Time, we will definitely be launched on a new thread. Honest. Everything is ready to go, including the sofas.
Amy, that is both infuriating and dispiriting. You could lighten your mood by reading Dilbert cartoons, perhaps -- your supervisor sounds just like Dilbert's boss.
When my supervisor used to critique my reports, she insisted on making changes to the headers on every single page, no matter how much I tried to explain how report generators work. She knew that she knew better than I, and that I was simply failing to accept just criticism.

That's a good looking house, Witty and I love the octagonal window too. I've always wanted a house with a tower and a round window. The window might be achievable one day, but not the tower. Although there is a house locally that has the stairs in a round tower, the tower rises one floor above the rest of the house. So I suppose that wouldn't be too difficult if you were building from scratch.
Amy, your supervisor and K's boss would get on well together, or kill each other.

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Mar 3, 2006
It's a similar situation, Lil.
The course administrator is supposed to be the teacher of the course but they have had to buy in hourly paid staff, like myself, to cover the more technical topics. I'm the fifth person they've tried.
She needs to feel in control, which I understand, but does this by attempting to box me in and making the students see that I'm a lesser being.
Unfortunately, the students have seen through this and we've all worked around the constraints. Even though my published notes were forcibly changed last week, I went ahead with the taught lessons as planned. I say 'unfortunately' because every time I do a 'work around' like this I edge closer to disciplinary proeceedings for not following orders.
To make matters worse, the students in the last module were asked to write a paper that included a section on successful teaching strategies giving examples... and most of them have used examples from my units rather than from hers. She's marking the papers at the moment, which might explain her desire to bring me down a peg or two.
There are no other specialists in this area in the department, so if she says my notes are wrong there's no one to arbitrate. I faced a similar situation just after Christmas but fortunately a retired professor dropped by and resolved the difficulty.
I had better go and get on with it... tanks for all your help everyone...

Morning All,
Considering that snorkers are slang for sausages in some quarters a Snork followed by an exclamation mark followed by an ejaculation is a little nod nod

The WWF (World Wildlife Found) seems to think that we'll be facing 'severe storms and extreme weather in future winters as a result of climate changes' in their report 'Stormy Europe' - I hope they're wrong but, unfortunately, I think their right...:
