*Hides life under sofa away from the laughing* I'm thinking of buying a new, less humourous one. Any suggestions?

Henry also seems to be taking after his grandfather as well with comments about getting thrown out and temporarily bared from the pub where it all happened when he made some comment about the french deputy manager.
Still in my opinion, I don't really care much. A 17year old going out getting drunk and smoking what's really news about that.

Nothing at all, which is the point really. If he was anyone else no one would take any notice, unless he is Tony Blair's son. But then that all blew over in a couple of days.
Anyone read The Binding Chair by Kathryn Harrison? It has been sitting unread on my bookshelf for a couple of months and I have put off reading it because I keep thinking I might not enjoy it and read something else instead.
I always have at least two or three books waiting to be read, mainly because I can't go past a bookshop without going in and then end up being seduced by the three for two deals, or £2 off.

My mum works as a librarian in a local high school, so she's always throwing books at me.
This week I'm trying to read three. One about some king in ancient egypt(whose name I do not recall,), one by Terry Brooks that I'm three chapters into, and "American Gods" by Nil Gaiman that she checked out for me because she didn't know that I owned it. (I'm reading it anyway.)
The only problem with juggling so many books at once is that on occasion, you forget which storyline goes where. It can get confusing to a slightly-dyslexic brain such as JJ's.

Once-upon-a-time, when Harry was peering through the looking glass, he saw Frodo playing quoits with a ring.
Morning all. Lovely day here in Middle Earth.

Oh, I'm reading the Fellowship of the Ring, too. Thanks for reminding me, Loony.
But I own that one, so I can take my dear sweet time with it.
*going ever-so-slightly mad from all the reading*

FG Posted Jan 16, 2002
Weeeeellllll, I had a lovely morning. I just stepped out of the shower, still damp, and proceeded to go into the kitchen. On my way I passed by the kitty litter box. Now, every once in awhile the little darlings will "overshoot the mark" so to speak, and leave a little deposit outside the box on the floor. Of course, being still sleepy, I did not look where I was stepping in the hallway. You guessed it...
...I slid halfway across the floor on a cat s***. I had to get back into the shower to clean off my feces-covered foot and then try to clean up the poop I had mashed into the flooring. There was still a big stain by the time I left for work 15 minutes later.
Naturally, I had yelled the only thing that was truly appropriate: "Oh s***!"

Morning all. Looks like I have my training schedule moved up so I will be quiet for the next two days.
I never did figure out why anyone would be afraid to cook. KPA sounds like a rationalization for bad cooks to me. Of course I love to cook and I love to play. Recipies are for people who have no imagination. I only ever use a recipie as basic guidline.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Jan 16, 2002
JJ, 'One (book> about some king in ancient Egypt' - would you happen to know the name of the author? Just wondering, because I'm interested in Egyptology in general, and reading all sorts of books about the subject, including the fiction ones...
As for the KPA, I think the article I read mentioned people being afraid to say yes if they got a dinner invitation, because they would have to invite people too, and at the thought of trying to impress their would-be guests with some fancy cooking, they just got... uh... got... *checking dictionary, much against her will* ...paralysed
Third attempt to post this - don't be surprised if it shows up as a triple posting...

I don't know the author... It's a rather new book though... (I'm interested in Egyptology too, which is why mum got it for me.)
I'll go check later, mmkay Titania?

Oh Sh*t indeed! I haven't had any misses with the catbox in the kitchen, but there has been a good deal of overenthusiastic covering activity that leaves litter scattered over the lino. Still, I am wildly enthusiastic about the advances in cat litter technology since last I owned a cat!
Munchers, at least you have a life, humorous or otherwise. Pity those who don't.
Titania, have you read The Egyptian by Mika Waltari? It's a classic, something I read in my early teens that affected the way I look at Egypt forever. Basically it is centered on the reign of Akhenaten.

Sinuhe, the Egyptian - yes, I've read that one - always enjoyed Mika Waltari's books - thorough research behind them all, or at least that's the feeling I get struggling through his books...
...maybe 'struggling' isn't the word I'm looking for, but they are not 'easy reading'...

Akhenahten!!!
That's the title, Titania. Or rather, it's somehting like "The Life of Akenahten" or something like that.
It has a lot of inetererting pictures, to be sure, and the whole bit in the beginning (which is really all I've read of it so far) about his mum is really interesting.

*fetches her Egyptology 'bible', struggling with the 3 kg (6.6 lb) heavy book*
Oh yes - the husband of Nefertiti, and only worshipping one god - Aten - pretty unusual back then, monotheism...

Yup.
Both of their graves were desecrated after their deaths because of the monotheism thing.
If memory serves it was Tutankhammen (excuse the misspellings but I can't think right now) that succeeded the both of them.
