I'll be off shortly to go look at all those pictures of snow and puppies. At the moment though, I can't wait to get Mike A's take on the Prince Harry Caper. Cyber-nephew just got himself into the same kind of trouble last month.
I too am in favour of allowing kids to learn how to handle drink at home. Agreed, it takes the edge of using alcohol as a form of rebellion, and it forestalls the child getting used to it the wrong way, amongst strangers or away from home.

is kindergarten in spanish really jardin de ninos? (mods: literally garden of children) And I apologise for the lack of accents or ~ but I'm on a mac and I'm scared of the floating keyboard.
*sporky. off to puppy kindergarten*

I guess I learned about alcohol in the presence of my parents. We had taken a trip to Barbados and had all gone out on a booze cruise (a ship that cruises around the island for an afternoon, complete with a steel band and a free bar). I wasn't supervised too closely (I was about 14) and had a number of rum punches. I wasn't feeling very well on the bumpy way home in a VW microbus taxi and when it stopped to fix a flat tire, I threw up in the ditch, with my mom assisting. I felt fine after that and enjoyed dinner at a restaurant. My dad wasn't so fortunate. He didn't throw up and he spent the evening in bed.

JJ, have you checked the very first postings in this new conversation? Because if you haven't, I think you should...

I thought jardin was French for garden? Might be the same I suppose.

Titania, what lovely pictures. My favourite is the 5th one, of the reeds, because of the hazy atmosphere and the backlighting. And the found treestump gnomes with snow hats are wonderful!
*now off to look at puppies*

Well, 'garten' as in kindergarten is German for garden, I think...

...and thank you all for appreciating my winter picture efforts - I still need to get myself a camera stand to be able to use the - uh - prolonged exposure? (wild guess)
I used it for the cars covered by snow, but I think you'll see that is a bit unclear - I just can't keep my hands completely steady...

Yes, Titania, 'garten' is german for 'garden'.
And, according to an online german - english dictionary I found, 'kinder' is german for 'children'. So I guess 'kindergarten' literally translates to 'garden of children'.

Is it me or does Titania's translation from Swedish to Spanish seem rather prisonesque?

My folks would let me and my sister drink in carefull moderation on special occaisions, which may be why I like to celebrate things with a drink, but do nt casually drink as often as my friends.
