Morning all!
After many cups of peppermint tea and an early night of heavily, ummm... medicated sleep, I have recovered minor use of my voice. I am still not on the phones, as I fear the "What?" from clients, but I am able to communicate without my paper again at least. Thanks to everyone for their concern and suggestions.
Matina, some please. Thank you.

Styx the Rat Posted Oct 25, 2001
*trots out of old Quorthons rooms, across salon, jump onto butler hatch* I want some breakfast.

Good morning, Styx. Matina, will you get some breakfast for this dashingly handsome rat? Thank you.

He is a rather gorgeous rat isn't he? Sleeky, shiny fur and nice warm tail!
The local fireworks displays must be kicking off this weekend. I must get a paper tomorrow to check. It has been so mild though, it doesn't seem quite right.
I can remember one Guy Fawkes night when it was trying to snow, in the long, distant past. That was in London too!

What ho, all!
Back for another evening, what?
Our two cats have no 'looks' whatsoever, at least no intimidating ones. The cheeky grins they give us as they jump up on the kitchen seats just before we wish to sit down are a little disconcerting, however.
I've had some end of half-term tests in all my subjects this past week, and should find out my progress by tomorrow.

'Talya has the habit of turing evil as I am trying to eat breakfast (or what goes for it in a bachelor pad) in the morning. She attacks my feet with all the vigor of a tiger into a steak.

Mac (having trouble typing with a pug dog in his lap) Posted Oct 25, 2001
My pugs have a Look. I think all pugs do. It's entirely the opposite of a human or cat Look, instead of a command it induces a really bad guilt trip. "How could you do that to me? Unless you are completely heartless you must make ammends immediately and you must still feel terrible all day." If the pug throws in a "head rachet" along with the Look then you are finished, just finished.

Cats exist on guilt trips and denial.

I am inclined to agree with you sporky.

Poor ! Bring 'Talya to Denver in March, Marv, so that she can be treated with the adoration she deserves!

How did Caer ascertain that Styx has a warm tail. I hope it was by some sort of remote sensing device.
I'm off to bed to read Douglas Copeland's latest. Has anyone else read it?

I haven't gotten around to reading his first yet. Oh well. Another book on the stack labeled "to read soon."

I have a "pile beside my bed" of books that I want to read - at the moment it's sitting about 8 books high, with more scattered around the house, as well as a mini-pile at my mum's place...it grows of its own free will! I've never seen anything like it before - you turn your back for a second, and there's a whole other series to get through!

Aunt and uncle have jet lag, and went to bed early, so I've been able to log on and stave off withdrawal symptoms for another evening.
The new DCopland book is well reviewed, and thanks for reminding me about it, Amy. Is it still in hardback? With a birthday coming up, now is the time to issue hints to relatives!
Vincent Black Shadow has made an escape hatch in the bottom of the bathroom screen. I was sure I had let him into the house, and simply could not understand how he had managed to disappear into thin air. And then I found the hole. Another handyman job to be seen to next week.
Feeling any better, Gw7en?

oh, I meant to say - if you want a description for me rather than having to make a committee think...
"organisationally challenged uni student from Australia with a need to travel"
...hope that suffices.
Urgh, it's raining and I'm going rockclimbing for the weekend...I'm sure the backlog monster is going to strike, so everyone have great weekends and I'll see you all on Monday!
Hope you feel better, G7
