The Last Starfighter is an excellent film. A teenage boy who spends all his time playing video games ends up saving the galaxy!
Then there is Big, starring Tom Hanks, a child in an adult's body.

Some dressup movies:
Robin Hood, with Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. The Man in The Iron Mask, with Leonardo diCaprio. (There's girls in this crowd, I take it? )

Morning all!
Movies... I would definitely second the endorsement of Spy Kids. Great movie and lots of fun! For pseudo-educational, go with A Knight's Tale; you may have to explain that Queen really isn't from the 14th century, but it'll give them the feeling that history is interesting. A bit of violence, but no more so than any modern sport.
Matina, some please. Thank you.

A really good double feature would be A Bug's Life and The Magnificent Seven. Or Chicken Run and The Great Escape. In school we all have to watch and compare Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story, the above two would be more fun.

Oh, you are being helpful. A big thanks. I know it sounds daft, but faced with a screen full of movies I couldn't find/choose anything.

Solnushka, I'd recommend a rather oldish (like a dozen years) movie called The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen, directed by Terry Gilliam. With Sian Phillips, Eric Idle, a superb turn by Oliver Reed as Hephaistos, Uma Thurman, a cameo (unattributed) by Robin Williams, John, uh, what WAS his last name? in the starring role... and the usual design magic from Gilliam himself. Children's entertainment with an adult subtheme. War. No explicit sex, a few harem jokes. No swearing, apart from "bloody."
Last night I kept Vincent in for the first time. How do you keep a cat from trying to sleep on your face?

Sleep with your face down. Hard to breathe but it works.

*cough, splatter*
Oh dear, almost chocked on my reading the suggestions for keeping a off your face - tuna juice on toes or sleeping face down!
