Everyone, I've got some terrible news. Due to the work that I may very well have to put into my new classes for the year, my time on h2g2 will most definitely be cut back. So, don't expect to hear from me too often, and don't worry about smoke clouds and explosions from downstairs.
BTW, about all of the mad geologist jokes....if I go into the field of mad science, it'll be holistically, as opposed to just one field. BTW, for more information on Mad Geologists (and the place where I stole the idea from), please report to your local branch of the IF-Archives, download any version of Frotz, and then download the game "Guess-The-Verb", and figure out how to play the "Scrutinize" scenario. Sorry, I just couldn't go away without telling that to you.

Shucks, Affy. You ought to drop out of school if it's going to take you away from the important things in life.
Like backlog.

This from the people who told me to go to college just two days ago so that I could get a degree in mad geology.

Affy, one major difference between high school and college can be summed up in four words:
Free High Speed Internet
You can be online at strange hours, and still get all your work done!

Its too bad you won't be on as often, Affy. But I know that we'll still see you so it won't be as bad as it could be.
Arl, I think that we can seduce you into hanging around morethan you expect. All it will take is more games run by GL.
You ready for tomorrow, sea?

tomorrow is wednesday, so rest assured. Maybe you should keep your wiffle bat handy, just in case someone gets you angry.

Oh dear
A warning has been issued to New Zealand coastal residents today not to take the threat of a tsunami (tidal wave) lightly.
A large earthquake off Gisborne's east coast last night triggered the possibility of a tsunami. Seismologist Terry Webb says reports that people were heading to the beach to watch for a tidal wave proved there is still a need for education in this field. He says in 1947 two tsunamis off the east coast put driftwood in the power lines.
He went on to say people should head inland if they feel a large earthquake rather than going down to the beach.
