What's wrong with wine coolers - as long as you use them for white wine?
Or maybe we're thinking about different kinds of coolers - I've got a clay one, originally used for cooling milk - you soak it in cold water before using it...

I believe that the cooler Loony is refering to - and correct me if I'm wrong, of course - is a watered-down version of wine where there water is actually a sparkling beverage of some kind. (My mother always used 7-Up.)
Have a seat, T. How are you today?

Wine Cooler
Ingredients
5 ounces dry white wine
1 ounce brandy
1/2 teaspoon sugar syrup (optional)
Dash of Angostura bitters
Dash of Kümmel
Chilled soda
Twist of cucumber peel
Shake wine, brandy, sugar syrup, bitters, and Kümmel with cracked ice and serve in a Highball glass or large goblet. Top up with soda and garnish with cucumber.

A anyone?
Fine thanks, Gw7en, finally finding the time to do more than just leave calling cards - continuing on my entries... *sighs, working on 4 entries, starting on a 5th and wanting to add info to an already existing entry*

So if that mixture is a wine cooler - then what do you call an object used for keeping wine cool?

That would be a wine-cooler.
The usage suggested by Loony and Gw7en is not British English. We would called a mix of wine and fizzy water a spritzer. I'll have to look at Loony's recipe again. It's probably a sundowner.

In New Zealand, Titania's wine cooler would be called a chilly bin
The east coast of the North island of NZ (where I live) was hit by a size 7 earthquake last night.
A few highlights
Residents and businesses in the area said they felt the earthquake rolling but it did no damage.
Tolaga Bay resident Nick Girling-Butcher said it was one of the worst he had felt.
"I don't like earthquakes anyway. There's been no damage but I've poured myself another whisky."
Gisborne district councillor Alan Davidson said the quake was very long, gentle and rolling.
"It just went on and on and on. It even made the water in my swimming pool lap over the edge."
Ian Moore of Spot On Dairy in Gisborne said it was not violent enough to shake goods off the shelves.
Wairoa Club barmaid Sharon Soloman said the bar felt like a "rocking boat".
"It was a good one. It just kept going for ages and ages. But the guys kept on drinking and they kept on with the draw . . . . Someone won $100 as the earthquake was going," she said.

What a cast of characters!
Garius could use that for the premise of an upcoming role-playing scenario.
Something makes me think Nick doesn't need much incentive to pour himself another whiskey under any circumstances.

Marv I was at the Napier Cosmopolitan Club. The action there was much the same as at the Wairoa Club mentioned above. Not a drop was spilt

And talking about characters...
Last week, amateur weather watcher Harry Alcock, a retired Hamilton umbrella manufacturer, had said an earthquake was imminent because of the position of the Moon and the Earth, but his predictions were dismissed as having no scientific standing.
"I feel vindicated. I didn't want a big earthquake, just a small one to prove I was right," he said.
