HonestIago - Thanks for the info on Mr Stipe - it has made my day smiley - blush. It's just that the last thing I read about him in the gay press said that he isn't gay. Mind you, that was a while ago, and I'm terminally vague - or at least I think I might be - so I might not have noticed anything more recent...

He was in Attitude, a British gay mag, this month talking about boyfriends and stuff. Want some more good news? He's single

That's something ... I was intending to buy a gay magazine this week, only I chickened out of it (it's something I've never done before, even though I got some free ones with a "Welcome to Manchester" pack for gay guys). Out of the magazines generally available in newsagents, I'm just wondering whether anyone has a recommendation as to which one to buy?

(Sorry to divert your attention from the game - I promise that normal service will be resumed shortly! smiley - smiley)

Moehaha, first time I bought a gay magazine (I was sixteen at the time), it was like, uhm... would I or would I not? I had been turning round in circles in the shop for almost fifteen minutes (I was waiting on a train, so I had time enough)when a guy came in. He was a typical businessman in a suit with a briefcase. He just walked over to the pile of magazines, took one and bought it. I felt REALLY silly, so little time later I took a deep breath and bought my own magazine. Stupid thing is, I haven't really read it. It was a more something I wanted to do (buying the thing), to see if I dared to do something 'openly gay' in public. (I know, kind of ridiculous. I'm walking hand in hand on the street with my guy now. Wiehie, guess that means I grew up a little)

But all in all, I don't think those magazines are very special. A lot of articles about teachers coming out at school, gay artists, some arty-crafty pictures of shirtless guys(to be sure the thing is sold), articles about the 'scene', and so on, yada yada. But just the event of buying the thing made it special at the time.

Diva? smiley - rofl

GT is a bit stuffy (been a while since I read it so might be better now)

Attitude is lighter and probably more fun to read. It all depends if you want gay news or gossip or general lyfestyle stuff.

the gay pubs in Scotland give out free papers - 'the pink paper' and a couple of Gay mags, so do some of the gay shops.

Mr Stipe smiley - drool is single? smiley - run Must catch plane to US and track him down...

By the way, the main gay magazine here is nice and glossy, a cross between lifestyle, fashion and politics, and it's called 'DNA'. The strapline is 'It's in your genes', and I assume that's meant as a pun.

See you next week...

Ivan.

Wait a a minute, you cant have Alan Rickman, he's mine smiley - tongueout, I clearly staked a claim for both him and Jeremy Irons in post 49.

Slightly OT, has anyone seen the film The Scarlet Pimpernel, not the recent one with Richard E. Grant*, the older one with Ian McKellen in it?

smiley - cheers

*not sure wheather I would or not, however I do like his predecessor in the blue box Paul McGann
