Greebs - a quick lesson in Guitar and Bass Guitar hardware.

Strap locks are ingenious little devices that - unsurprisingly - lock your guitar strap to your guitar (or Bass) to prevent it crashing to the floor, while it should be hung round your neck. The locks have a small latch on which enables the strap to be easily and quickly removed for maintenance or putting back in the case. For the outlay of £10 -15 you can protect the investment of several hundreds (or thousand for top models) of ££££ in a quality insrument.

It would be my recommendation that it be one of the first accessories purchased by any budding playrer, alonmg with a hard case.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to rest your insrument on the floor??

I'm sure that's a good idea, but I think on an undamped stage - like most of the ones I play on, it would lead to terrible feedback problems.

I also don't fancy having to amputate my legs in order to reach the thing. I suppose I could go for having my arms lengthened!
