Yesterday we got through five outfit changes, plus two parent trouser changes! Mind you, I think that has been the worst day since newborn, can't usually complain!

How are things getting along? How old is yours now? smiley - cupid is practically a grown up at six and a half months.

Five! smiley - yikes

bear is six and a half weeks
tiny compared to his brothers four and a half years
I'm enjoying all the cuddles before he's old enough to run away

*rubs bump* nobody warned me about bump getting sore! I can't believe I've only got 12 and a bit weeks to go before this little one is due! We have been decorating the nursery its not quite finished, but I promise pictures when it is.

Also sorted through the baby clothes and looks like I might be allowed to get some newborn stuff for the hospital bag as I've only got about 5 vests and 3 sleepsuits.

Hope everyone and their little ones are doing well.

Oh definitely vests and sleep suits mini - go to a supermarket and pick up a couple of packs. They are cheap and because babies grow so incredibly quickly they'll only wear them a few times before they ar outgrown. I dpn' think I started putting smiley - cupid into real clothe until he was at least eight weeks.

Or check out your local paper for second hand clothes - you can get loads for not much. That's what we did and it worked very well. eBay might work to although I've never used it for baby clothes.

Ebay works *great* for baby clothes. Just be sure to read the descriptions, and look more at things listed as lots. If there are just photos and no description, you might want to steer clear, unless the clothes are listed as new, either with or without tags. And, of course, pay attention to the seller ratings. Buying ahead is better than buying current sizes, because, at least in the US, baby clothing sizes vary worse than women's clothing sizes. PaperKid had one outfit that she wore for well over a year (from "a bit baggy" to "kinda snug") that claimed to be either 12 or 18 months--I think she started wearing it at around 6 months!

Yeah, ignore age ranges and look at the weights or lengths instead. smiley - cupid has only just outgrown one 0-3 month t-shirt, but is in 12-18 month clothes in others. It's a minefield (sorry not to be more helpful!).

Just get a job lot of stuff, sort through and just be ready to retire anything when it gets too small, even of they've never worn it!

baby clothes sizes are a nightmare
even in the same shop/brand they can vary quite a lot
I generally find things from places like asda can be huge but debenams has them quite small for the suggested age range, baby bear is already growing out of some 3-6 things and he's not quite 2 months old yet,
also beware of the feet in babygrows sometimes they are tiny and squash the toes

I get nearly all my clothes for the kids via car boot sales. You might have to go for a fevv times, because obs they are unpredicatable in vvhat they have, but I really have too many clothes for the kids, at a cost of absolute pennies. Nearly nevv sales run by the NCT are a good place as vvell if they have them near you. Also, perhaps especially for obvious reasons, sales run by 'tvvins clubs'. I've found these places vvere by far the best places for picking up second hand equipment and such too, although you have to plan in advance.

My advice about buying baby clothes pre baby is to get one or tvvo babygrovvs of belovv the standard nevvborn size, vvhich I think is about 3kg. You might have a small baby. Although you can stick them in the average size, the baby looks svvamped, and it is just one more thing not to have to think about immediately.

Oh and I chop the feet off the baby grovvs vvhen it gets to the point that they are being squashy - it is definitely true that they seem to grovv out of the feet before anything else.

Wow lots of great advice. As I haven't actually bought anything for bump yet I've now got a good excuse to! Everything we do have has been gifted by my mum or my sister. Got LOADS of 0-3 months stuff and some bigger too, so just need a couple of packs of first size stuff to get through the first few weeks.

Am also on a seemingly endless hunt for a good bargain on reusable nappies and wondering where to find the money for them, might have to look into a sure start grant or something.

Well just discovered my council do a trial pack of reusable nappies so have given them a phone. Also some ferreting around online has found a set of 20 birth to potty nappies with bamboo inserts for under £100 which is good.

Who would have thought I could be so productive with only my phone for Internet!

I think I might be nesting. Got up this morning and washed the dishes, changed the bed, done a load of washing and hung it up and painted murals in the nursery. Also made a shopping list of things I need to get before or very soon after the arrival of bump.

Is my body refusing to sleep to get me used to a newborn? Mind you, I did get some sleep last night, with added strange dreams. What is with that by the way? Is it the hormones or something?

Just waiting for a phonecall to tell me my sister is in labour. She is due October 10th but this is her second and she feels like she will go early. Hoping that both bumps are blue as expected so I can get hand me downs from her boy for mine.

aaaah 8 weeks to go!

have seen and cuddled lots of small babies recently, my sister had her little boy a few days ago and i got to cuddle him at 2 days old. I also got a good cuddle of my friends little boy who is now 9 weeks old and cute as a button.

Okay haven't actually had any practice of looking after a tiny person yet, but cuddling them is nice even if friends baby did want to borrow my er 'feeding equipment' at one point.

I also had practically zero experience with kids. I found the best way was just to not worry too much if I could. Babies have a knack of doing whatever they like, regardless of what you do. If they have a full tummy, a clean nappy and lots of hugs, you're pretty much there.

*..blows dust off thread*

So R is now 5 and a bit months old, an enormous 19lb and in 6-9 months clothes. Still breastfeeding and hoping to start baby led weaning in the next 6 weeks . We have finally go.e full time with the cloth nappies and its really Brawley any extra work. Haven't used a disposable in over a month. I'm still 'wearing' him most of the time too.

Am already starting to wonder what we will do about school for hi.. apparently he will start august 2016 (meep) am contemplating homeschooling or possibly a Gaelic medium school. Don't know yet and I have a couple of years to decide.

R almost sitting but not yet rolling thank goodness . Think I may have become more of a treehugging hippy since having him. If you catch me knitting yoghurt etc then please sat something.

Wow don't they grow quickly,

Charlie is 10 months old now and eats whatever we eat but all the time... between meals and food apparently is the best thing in the world,
apart from playing with big brother (but big brother dosnt want to play most of the time)

he is cruising around the furniture and it seems like he crawls at 100mph
