Incredibly glad that you were!!!!!
You've just solved something that's been bugging me for months!
Now I've just got a symphony to name and score out for next week...

Have you ever heard the piano piece Clair de Lune? You will have heard it, even if you don't know that you have. Imagine you are listening to a hymn... each line sounds complete, like a sentence in speech. Now imagine instead that your listening to someone playing random words on the piano, like a long string of thoughts with no obvious direction.
I imagine thats what E has in mind.

Yep, though mine is nowhere near as good as Clair de Lune...same kind of style though...Joanna can really hit a nail on the head

How about something else to do with h2g2. If the piece can be interpreted as describing peoples feelings when online you could call it something like "The Chat Room" the complete sentences would make sense then. If it's a more random piece is it quick, slow or variable pace. And in which order.
A symphony sounds impressive

The last couple were supposed to be questions. I have one or two ideas but they are meant for partly frantic pieces

You could tell me anyway, even though I've finished my A-level compositions (apart from scoring out parts - Joanna, have you ever used one of those big A3 conductors pads - they're fun) but I could always do some more - doesn't hurt

No I've not. They always make conductors look very high powered, though. Happily I didn't have to do any composition, that would have been such a trial for my soul
What board a-level are you doing?

NEAB
I like composing - as long as I have a tape recorder recording what I play as I play it, otherwise I'd forget what it was I'd just played and get in a twist...

It was something silly and everyday along the lines of "getting ready for school". Laziness where you want to stay asllep, frantic rush to get out of bed as you realise its getting late, trying to find books etc. finally calming down actually on the bus/in car/whatever. Silly little idea really

Snap, on Russian Composers!
We were told we could do Dido and Aeneas - listened to it, did some stuff on it, but it was then ditched for B's Vln Conc - we aere told not to do the harmony paper because it's supoosed to be the hardest of them all...

It is hard, but two years of work and you learn how Also the weighting is in favour of you if you do the harder options, but I don't know how hard they rate composition. What are you doing for your recitals? I did flute and singing.
Dido was a bit of a grower for me. I hated it to begin with; now when I'm depressed I find myself singing Dido's Lament!
How do you like the Rite of Spring?
