Now there was one scary kids TV presenter.
And what was it with Johnny no-friends when two characters had to be on screen at the same time. Have you ever seens a bird fly with one wing. Even the Corbetts were able to employ other 'hands' to be Sooty's friends.

I've noticed a number of people seem to have the same reaction to the guy off Fingerbobs. Yoffy, aka Rick something (I think, my reference books are in the other room). He never bothered me. Then again some 25 years later I look like the Wolfman's stunt double. Make of that what you will.

I think Yoffy was Canadian, but Fingermouse endures my daughter Alex has a video of fingerbobs, Bagpuss is another favourite and Willo the Wisp, with a new generation of kids we should see these shows back

I loved the way he did everything his self. And he had a lovely soothing voice.

Think the chaps name was Rick Jones and yes I believe he was Canadian. He got fed up with doing the show hence dunking the characters in coffee to kill them off

One way to prevent spin-offs and sequels, I suppose.

Actually, I think Rick Jones was an excellent presenter. But I can't remember any 'coffee-dunking' incident (it's not on the DVD, unless I wasn't paying attention, and I think two small children being traumatised by Fingermouse drowning might have caught my eye). So does anyone *actually* remember seeing this, or did you all hear or read about it later?

As to drowning Fingermouse. I haven't seen it. I heard that Rick Jones made sure the camera was on when he dunked Fingermouse in the coffee. I assume that it was recorded though whether the copy exists is doubtful. I can't really imagine the BBC letting the kids see that.

If he was hoping to prevent spin-offs he failed rather, since there was one.

Yeah! Rick Jones as a kind of late hippie-type character - laid back to the extreme! He did do another programme either before or during Fingerbobs and that was none other than Play School!
I recollect seeing 'Fingermouse' on BBC a few years ago with another old Play School presenter by the name of who I think was a bloke called Stuart McLauchlan, but I can remember much at all about it...
