A wierd birth defect that only effects one in a million people.
The assassin, I mean
Furry scene. Well, I seen a lot of the films. I could fill a page with links to furry websites. I got contacts. I could give you info on almost any furry film you could want. And I love it

Ah-haaaaaa.
Got some severely peeving news to tell: the shelves in my bedroom collapsed on my Dark Angels army - and what ain't crushed or badly damaged seems to have just plain vanished. God only knows where half that stuff's gone - I found the part-lead Predator flung across the room, so the rest could be anywhere. I'm gonna have to do some serious work to get things back in order. Ah, well.
What's this birth defect do, then? Give them the ability to destroy psykers with their bare hands or something?

I got shelves with 3,000 pts of High Elves on them. My friends pretend to swipe them all off. And I works me up to think that it -could- happen.
That is seriously nasty shit! Good luck getting it all back together. How many points was on there?
The birth defect makes the Culexus soulles. They have no precense in the warp. Thus, they can use this to kill psykers, who are massive flames in the warp and impossible to miss. How it exactly works, 'm not sure.
I want to read Codex Assassins now. Both 2nd & 3rd edition. Haven't touched theem in ages .

2,500 points. Can't find half my Assault squad, a couple of Tactical guys and the Techmarine. At least that Vindicator conversion I was working on survived.
That stuff about the Culexus is classy. Damn, I love the 40K background. Like all the Guard regiment backgrounds, and the Horus Heresy... Fantastic. Pretty sure the background is the main reason I've stuck with 40K for so long.

Just stumbled across this forum doing a search on WH40k. I just started playing, like, 3 or 4 weeks ago, and I know an opportunity to pick a veteran's brain when I see it. Or at least make a nuisance of myself. 'Course, I'm stuck having to build my entire army at the prices they have now... did you know that you can't even buy the friggin' manual except in a starter set anymore? I mean, sure it gets me some space marines and dark eldar, but I'm not going to play as either of those anyway. Eldar for me, when I get around to actually buying. Anyway, instead of spending $40 american I payed $70 and had to spot a loan off a friend because I didn't have that much cash on me. The people at GW are selling out I think, but the game intrigues me so much I'm paying anyway. =P

That Games Workshop are selling out is beyond doubt...
I'm a bit of a metalhead, and not an issue of Metal Hammer or Kerrang! goes by without at least one band saying "we'll never sell out", to the point which you can only think "I bet you will". Is there ever anything outside of Pop music that sell out?
Yes, and it's called Games Workshop.
But you can make it managable. Buy the cheap stuff at the GW shops, and try to get bigger things second hand. I do that when I can (which is rarely).
Hey, I got official guide entries on Necromunda and Gorkamorka
Hope your army gets sorted out, Jimmy R

It's been two weeks now and I still haven't found that missing assault marine. Where the hell can he have gone? I'll have to sort something out to replace him. Found everything else though.
Sad to hear about the rulebook not being available anymore. When they started to sell the rulebook seperately I thought, "Great idea, it'll make things like they used to be.". But it was too good (and GW too profit-hungry) for it to last.

I must have misread Moonjack's post. They've stopped selling the rulebook on it's own for £25? The bastards!
I bought that almost as soon as it came out...I was dead chuffed with myself

You didn't misread... as for secondhand stuff, fat chance. Everyone I know plays as Space Marines or Emperial Guard, no spare Eldar for me. And I can't go to an official GW shop 'cause the closest one is still too far away. But I go to Scenario Strategy Games in Fremont CA, they've got good prices and a selection rivaling the GW stores themselves.
Speaking of all my friends playing as Space Marines or Emperial Guard, it's going to be interesting playing as Eldar. I'm looking for ways to deal with heavy armor/tanks, and it ain't easy. Especially the tanks. The only really effective weapons on tanks for Eldar are lascannon and fusion guns, both of which have their shortcomings. I'm thinking about getting an avatar and using that instead.
Concerning the lost assualt troop... maybe he's the first Space Marine to ever be killed out of the line of duty . Seriously though, hope you find him.

Mike A (snowblind) Posted May 12, 2000
Maybe you could use some of those 'field gun' things...anti-grav platforms or something.
Warhammer 40,000
Moonjack Posted May 12, 2000
Yah. I just checked my manual, and turns out that Eldar do have meltaguns and missle launchers, I'd just forgotten. Plasma cannons too, but they blow up so I probably won't be using them. The missle launcher is only used on the weapons platform, but that's fine because the weapons platform is better than standard troops anyway. I could always use the D-cannon too, but that's only 24" guess range and not very reliable for hits on a single target like a tank.

RadiO Posted May 13, 2000
I was tempted to get some Eldar so I could get that funky Wing Commander-style grav-tank. Pity it costs so damn much...
Actually... Since GW stuff seems to be getting more and more expensive, where do you think it'll be in three year's time? Will GW as a hobby and a company still exist?
Warhammer 40,000
Mike A (snowblind) Posted May 13, 2000
I was thinking...how long before GW folds? Will people start to find cheaper alternatives, or stick with GW through thick and thin? I dunno...

At this rate, probably not too long. My friends and I were talking about starting our own wargaming company that would use cheap one-piece plastic troops that would cost a few dollars per squad and blow GW out of the water. Of course, we're not going too, but you can see how somebody who had the inclination and resources could.

Mike A (snowblind) Posted May 13, 2000
There are plenty of other wargaming companies out there. They are just lacking the flair of GW. You gotta admit, if you were a novice warmeister and you saw a GW store and another wargamings shop, which would you choose? Prolly GW, cos it's got a friendlier feel about it. Isn't that right?

RadiO Posted May 13, 2000
I play Battletech as a sideline, and that's pretty good really. Great, incredibly deep and convuluted background, fun and pleasurable gameplay, but the presentation isn't anywhere near GW's stuff, and FASA's art department need a good hard kick up the backside. Cardboard playing pieces as well - once you get used to them, they're okay, but it can't beat collecting and painting your own army. But it's cheaper, I suppose.
Do you think GW's games are getting simpler as well? Epic got cut down so much it was hardly a game at all. And Warmaster - all that stuff about having to pass leadership rolls to get the right to actually command your army each turn doesn't good much cop.
Warhammer 40,000
Mike A (snowblind) Posted May 14, 2000
What? You have to roll dice to be able to actually -do- stuff with your army? Man, I'm getting well out of touch here. I need to start reading the stuff on these GW sites I'm finding *^_^*
Painting and collecting an army is a great thrill, even if you don't play with it (ooh that sounds dirty ). If only it was cheaper...
Warhammer 40,000
RadiO Posted May 14, 2000
I think the way Warmaster works is this:
Each turn you roll a leadership test for each of your commanders and squad leaders. If you pass, everything's cool. If you fail, that commander loses control of his troops and you can't move or fight with them for the rest of the game. Sounds sad and questionable.
Cheap ways of doing an army... Well, if GW would re-release the 30-man plastic Imperial Guard box, or the 36-dude Marine set, it'd be a start!

Mike A (snowblind) Posted May 14, 2000
I need to find out more about Warmaster before I can tear it to shreds
You saw the link to the website up there? If you go to the forum there you'll find a small discussion about MetalvPlastic. Some good points were made there and I can't remember them! *^_^*
If you -do- go there, then my name in that forum is The Iron Maiden. Bland, eh?
