Not a woodpecker!!! I doubt anyone recorded that crittur.
So it must be the actual resonance at that point, which could be the flagpole itself, but more likely the four metal stays mounted in Huge lumps of concrete, set in the small hillock to keep it erect.
Is that it?

It is not a cactus scraping against a coke can - but it's a bold suggestion, we like those!

And one not found in the Pacific Basin?

No not a woodpecker - nor a flagpole.
I was giving you the QI bonus for knowing something interesting abut the flagpole at Kew Gardens.

Yes - tourists do go and see it and yes it is NOT anywhere near the Pacific.

QI bonuses are for being interesting - they've got nothing often to do with being right! - that's the job of the correct +3 and the - to a lesser degree - DGI +1s

It's not that installation by Anish Kapoor at Tate Modern, that gallery I only ever get taken to kicking and screaming, which was like a warped tube, is it? Although that's not outside!
And I'm still perplexed at that modulation!

I'm sure it is not Old Faithful in Wyoming. I have been there and it did not sound anything like that.

My model for the QI bonus is Gyles Brandeth's soliloquy on the identity and family history of the Gerber baby on the bottle of baby food - and the question if I recall, was about the counter-intuitive reception of packaging and advertisements in other countries and cultures from where they were manufactured/
i.e tangentially relevant but interesting in it's own right.

It's not in an art gallery - it's outside and it's definitely not in or anywhere near London!
