Titania (gone for lunch)

...because it's such a classic, with the kind of lines that turn into quotes, like 'you know how to smiley - whistle don't you?' or even 'play it again Sam' although that wasn't actually in the film?

...or for the unforgettable piece 'As Time Goes By'

It has been rereleased on dvd and probably video too, Z, so your local rental shop should have it.

Downstairs doesn't smiley - sadface but they don't have very many films, and they tend to only be current releases. But I'll try one of the larger branches of Blockbuster next time I'm passing.

I'm not sure if they're actually re-makes, they might just be other films with the same name. smiley - erm

I noticed that the one we're talking about is rated number 6 of films on IMDb.

Candi - now 42!

Was I the only person who actually watched last month's film? It wasn't difficult to get hold of at least in the UK - I borrowed it from the public library (and had a choice between video and DVD).

Does this mean we're only going to be able to choose famous or classic films?

My library has copies of Casablanca but they all seem to be...er...physically indisposed. smiley - sadface

That means I might actually have to pay to rent it! smiley - yikes

I'm getting the soundtrack from the library instead. smiley - winkeye

Candi, why not drop over to the other thread and say what you think about it. It was a busy month for me last month, and I didn't have spare time for Da Sliva to come around with the film. I'm sure he will this month. And we could easily get the discussion going on two films at once..

I wasn't able to find my copy of Metropolis, and I've got something against paying to rent it when I know that I own a copy. I'll join in when I watch it (and I WILL watch it....)

I've seen Casablanca recently, so I'm already ready to discuss. This movie is my absolute favorite film that incorporates propaganda. Of course, I agreed with a lot of the propaganda in it, so maybe that's why I like it.

And you've gotta love the Captain. "I'm only a poor corrupt official."

"I'm shocked, absolutely shocked to discover gambling going on in here!"
"You're winnings, sir...."
"Thank you, thank you. EVERYONE OUT!"

I watched last month's film, Candi. This month's I've seen a few times, but it has been several years. I will have to rent it again to refresh my memory.

-I did, Z. Straight after I watched it. F1715952?thread=375819&post=4848269#p4848269

BTW, I've stopped sulking now. Sorry about that, folks.

FG, I knew you’d watched it too. I was just being melodramatic smiley - blush

I'll probably be watching Casablanca next week. Haven't seen since I was a kid so it'll be interesting to watch it again. smiley - smiley
