I LIVE for long weekends! Don't know why right now, I'm not working. But it is some extra time to spend with family and friends, all of whom work. Maybe I'll even get some time on the computer this weekend.

Y'all are going off for a long weekend?? My workload just doubled this afternoon!

Good thing I love what I do.

Now, ox, by "feelin' GROOVY", do you mean to say that you are in the groove, that you are grooving, or that you are simply a major Simon & Garfunkle fan? Or all three? NAU is definately a groovy school. If any of you scholars out there want to come groove with me for a semester, feel free!

Yes Titanai Spring has indeed arrived. Alas, at this time of night that pushy piece of space debris, the Moon, is ruling the sky.

Into the cloud-covered sky, smoke rises then slumps out of chimneys; there is nothing quite like the melancholic smell of coal fires on spring evenings.

IIEM, green tea please.

Clouds? Smoke?

No, I prefer clear sky...

I visited Mt Sinai once upon a time.

1,5 hrs camel ride (ouch! try to stretch your legs after that!)

1 hour walking up the stairs built by a monk (some kind of penitentiary, I think) stopping at every 5th step to catch one's breath.

A magnificent sunset on top of Mt Sinai 2367 meters high, aka Moses' Mountain (according to the Bible, this is where he received the 10 commandments).

VERY cold night. I hardly got any sleep at all, but I didn't mind. The air was so clear and unpolluted. There were so many stars, that I couldn't see any of the constellations. But I could see the Milky Way!

Odd experience to see the entire galaxy in front of you, realizing that what they say about our solar system being very far out on the very edge of the galaxy, is true! It made me feel very small, almost microscopic...

And next thing I knew, Japanes tourists were stepping all over me, not seeing me in the dark (flashlight - never leave home without it!) coming to see the sunrise.

Having seen both, I strongly recomend the sunset - much more beautiful.

Couldn't agree with you more Titania. While I haven't been to as exotic a locale as you have, I've had many a similar experience in central Australia. Must be something about the desert that makes the sky seem so huge. Magnificent stuff.

Hi Wowbagger!smiley - smiley

I think it's the absence of city lights and air pollutions that makes it so clear, visible, magnificent and impressive...

Hello everyone. Spring in Australia - corresponds with fall here. Today its cloudy and a bit cool - a typical early fall day in Manitoba. Manitoba's the place to be for sunsets - we're famous for them. Bright pinks, oranges, yellows and mauves against blue cloudless skies that seem to go on forever. Wide open flatland, especially when the grain is ripe and golden. That's hard to beat for beauty.

Clear sky here, this morning. Out my northern window there are absolutely no clouds visible. Out the southern window there's a bunch of them way off in the distance, but rain does not usually come from the south. My father tells me I'll experience a real fall (In Phoenix there's little space between Summer and "Winter"). It's obviously not here yet, which is strange, because it means I'm wearing my jacket every day in the Summer!

I don't understand cold weather. I don't understand it at all.

Where, exactly is Mt. Sinai?

Mt Sinai is on the Sinai peninsular, eastern part of Egypt.

Could I have a café mélange, please...smiley - smiley

HOT!HOT!HOT! Been above 100 everyday for the last 3 weeks. Just sucks.

Just passing through and stopped to add my two cents worth(as if).

Dorothyland gets rain from the south, north, west, and occasionally from the east, depending on the time of year. Only when it comes from the east it usually has a tornado attached to it.

When asked, we tell outlanders that it gets just as hot and just as cold here as anywhere else in the contiguous U.S.; just not for as long as in some places.

HOT!HOT!HOT!
