*trails in from the back, having gone out to check on Ferrari and the Gnus*
*which would be a good name for a band*
Dang, I missed Bahb. I'm going to start doing what Somat Witty/Michele suggested a while back: I'm going to treat the top-of-the-thread as a reprise. But something more permanent is probably needed, to explain the regulars.
Ook is a blue orangutan. Yes, there's more than a casual connection to Discworld in practically ANYTHING that happens at h2g2, but Ook actually came about as a result of a malfunction by the IIEM, when Vlad ordered blue sumatran coffee and got Ook instead.
*Ook looks up at mention of Vlad's name, but then goes back to doing the Times crossword*
A Tenor Sax Fairy. Hm.

Bahb Posted Jun 15, 2000
I'm Back! thread got a bit too slow for me there, so i left.
what, Lil, are you surprised there's a fairy for my tenor sax? i should not be surprised at all to learn that there's a fairy for just about everything.
well, i guess i'll have another Earl Grey while waiting for an audience.
*sits down and ditties around on the sax a bit.*

I know from Kliban that there's an Oral Hygiene Fairy. And mythology says that there's one for every plant...

*Walks in and notices Bahb in the corner. Listens for a bit, then throws a bill in the sax case.*
Nice music. Nice fairy.
*Pierrot flys down to GL's shoulder*
Pierrot: Aaaawwwk, mbougatses please.
Well, Pierrot, what have you done to deserve a m... m... m-booger thing?
*Pierrot cocks his head and then produces a perfect immitation of Bahb's sax. GL gives him an mbougatses. He flys up to his perch and eats it. He seems to like "playnig" sax and continues after eating his pastry. Soon he is improvising a duet with Bahb. GL listens, open-mouthed.*

*does a saxophone rendition of "Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor"
just to show who's the boss*

Relaxes in the corner, letting the music and the parrot wash over her, sipping on her latte....

Bahb Posted Jun 15, 2000
*letting Pierrot take over saxophoning for a moment*
quick trivia question: what is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Fashion Cat Posted Jun 15, 2000
After listening to the great music, and feeling sad I pick up my file, and head out the door, otherwise I really will get no revision done...
See y'all later!

Do you know, I've heard that question before?
But I can't remember the answer, so there must not have been a real-life application for the datum.
Don't tell me. Let's see if anyone who comes in will know the answer.

Garius Lupus Posted Jun 15, 2000
It's from a Monty Python skit. Wait ... no, it's from the Holy Grail. Yes, that's it. A little more time and I should get the answer ...

*puts IIEM on autopilot*
Chores beckon. I'll be back presently.

Bahb Posted Jun 15, 2000
no fair takin' so long, Garius! how do i know you're not frantically watching the movie right now looking for the answer?
Coffee Counter 15 June 2000
Garius Lupus Posted Jun 15, 2000
Ok, the proper answer to that question is:
What do you mean, an African or a European swallow?

Bahb Posted Jun 15, 2000
zarking fardwarks! foiled again! *falls screaming into nasty pit*

I just *know* that the glitch is using this thing. But how?

Hey Bahb - did you know that Pierrot may be a Norwegian Blue? A live one, that is.

Hello all. I see Diogenes is still sunning herself on the window.
Bahb, can you play and Madness sax solos?

Greetings, B-17. Wie gehts? Hoe gaat het? How's trix? etc etc etc
Any decisions on selecting a L*n*x distribution yet?
Greetings, IIEM. Large cappucino, please and one of those unpronounceable thingies - Oh, yeah, and a bowl of Tuna for Anna the P. The gnus are happy looking after themselves.
Hi, Ook; have a banana. Yo, Pierrot; have anything you want to eat.
Key: Complain about this post
