Probably not until all the other bugs that affect *all* users have been ironed out.

I think there is no going back. SSO is a major policy decision in the way BBCi operates and is planned to spread to other bits of the BBC site after the dna users have done their worst.
However, the things which make SSO not work for some users really ought to be fixed. The problems are a fairly direct result of the BBC software team forgetting the first rule of design: KISS (= "Keep It Simple, Stupid"). They have added a load of flashy stuff to the pages including javascript stuff which isn't supported the same way by all environments. They didn't need to do that. It isn't necessary or clever and it just causes compatibility problems.
The SSO issue may be affecting more than just digibox users: <./>T333559</.>. With enough angry Mac users, the BBC may relent and re-write the SSO pages in a more sensible way.

"I may be on but staying on is my problem"
Why?
Have you tried Rho's method (see A1914491)?

Venus...
I understand how you feel as it kind of reminds me of the "360 trick" days [very pre-plain skin times] when we had to explain the process a lot [even though we've wrote an entry explaining it ==> A814367]... but that should not be an issue as such here as with the many alternative solutions now available every Digibox User will choose the one they feel more comfortable with [even if it's not a 100% efficient one] depending on numerous factors...
I would not be surprised if some Digibox Users stick to the first solution they've tried... It has happened before and it will happen again... it has nothing to do with the way you've explained things...
But i _do_ feel that Digibox Users should be allowed to tell us on here what problems they're having with _whatever_ solution they're using as this is _another_ reason for this page: collecting/gathering as much infos/details as possible regarding the SSO related problems facing Digibox Users as we want the Technical Team to fix these problems _eventually_...
If we only have the success stories, that won't give much for the Technical Team to work on unfortunately... so we need details on _every_ scenario/login choice possible... Not just the ones which work 100%...
Everyone... One thought that i will convey through the BBCiTesters Forum later on: Surely _someone_ in the BBC has _some_ knowledge on what makes the digiboxes tick as there is a BBC TVinteractive site on Telewest... Just a thought of course, but it might be worth looking into as [if i'm right and if that person is still working for Aunty] that could then save a lot of time and efforts to the Technical Team right now...
A simpler [a la K.I.S.S] software for the Sign in page[s] is certainly a very good suggestion... so let's hope that the MAC Users' Voice will be heard and listened to...
Got to go... Talk soon...

>I would not be surprised if some Digibox Users stick to the first solution they've tried... It has happened before and it will happen again...<
didn't come out the way i wanted... Meant to say that it's human nature... _not_ that it's something which might be particular to Digibox Users...
I hope i'm forgiven for that badly worded paragraph...
While i'm back, i will repeat what i said in another thread/convo on this page: more names will be added to the Researchers Credits box... but i will concentrate on the infos first as it's an obvious priority... So don't worry if some of you haven't got their name on the list yet... None of you has been forgotten...
need some sleep... Talk soon...

Hello I am asking on behalf of a fellow researcher: she has told me that she has tried to log on but they will not recognise her user name as they say it is not existent. Could you please tell me what should she do to remedy it?

You should check whether she understands the difference between a login name (the thing you first typed to create the account) and a nickname (the thing you see on your postings). It is important that she use her login name and password. Note that there have been some issues with case sensitivity. So she could try changing the case of the first letter or all the letters (digibox users are mostly likely to have signed up with all capitals).
After that, if there is a problem with the screens not working to let her enter her details, then she could try:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/signon/mainscript.pl?service=h2g2&username=&password=
http: //www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/signon/mainscript.pl?service=h2g2&username=&password=
Failing that she should try emailing:
membership bbc.co.uk
or even the old:
h2g2.support bbc.co.uk
giving as many of her details as she can remember.
