Rebs: Your very welcome. I hope you meant troubles to always be small ones, in your e-mail reply. http://www.h2g2.com/h2g2/skins/Alabaster/images/Smilies/f_laugh.gif" />
Alleycat, Sam: Yes a username (not your nickname) and password can be used, but the idea of people passing round e-mail with passwords in appeared dodgy, so a generic e-mail was sent.
You don't need to use the link 'Sign me in', based on 'cgi-perl' unless you have been signed out (and have re-booted also). It still can fail as any link could (page not found). So the traditional link was included in the mail, you could edit it to add your user number going to your 'My Space' or view your post first: /MP123456 etc. Even if you like see your journals first: /MJ123456
It is also possible to use the cgi-perl in combination to goto other places.
For example you could sign in to a new account, yet look at your old account first....
In addition to putting user and password details add:
&ptrt= then the URL, like http: //www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/u123456
At the moment I have added a 'button' Sign in link on my personal space, so even if I just use the old link, or anybody is looking, there is another sign in point.
If anybody wants a copy of the e-mail links, just ask (e-mailing automatically would give your return address if you prefer not to post it in public).
Please, please do NOT send any username or password information.

Jab.. I think a lot of this is beyond me as yet but I did bypass the personal details part of the link by putting XXXXX's in the user and password and asked my friends to delete the crosses and insert their own then send it to themselves and they had a person link.. this was of course before you e-mailed the link to me, now I pass on yours i'll read all of your post over again as I would like to learn.. it may require a few readings tho

I now have the new 'September 2003' Telewest software.
Yes I know it's November, but the letter giving 'advanced notice' and instuctions that arrived the day _after_ the download says September 2003
It would apear possible to Sign out and then sign in without needing to reboot the digibox.
Typical, now that booting time has reduced, it's may not be required.
Key: Complain about this post
