The rewinding bit's spot on. But do take care to rummage around in that box to see if there's a half-thread head bolt to fix the new winding with at the top. Otherwise you'll be doing it again every two weeks at the most.

I've always found that a discrete icing of WD45 helps these matters. Leave the aforementioned half thread bolts in an abrasive mix of caster sugar and iron filings, tumble overnight setting 56rpm; in the morning spray with the WD45. All that needs to be done then is a 5 minute fettle followed by a 20 minute curing in a ruby laser beam. Couldn't be more simple really.
