It's almost impossible to be unfashionable with pants as very few people will see them, unless you tend to wander around trouser-less.
The only major fashion mistake you can make is the 'VPL', Visible Panty Line. Mostly experienced by women as they tend to wear tighter trousers, but can be experienced by men when wearing pants, briefs or, heaven forbid, y- fronts and thin (usually cotton) trousers which are a little too small.

Bah: VPL is sexy. VPL makes you think of knickers, which makes you think of anatomy, which makes you think of sex!
Well, when I say "you", I probably mean "me". I'll get me coat.

Thongs have a little-discussed nasty side effect. That little strip of fabric is quite adept at transferring bacteria from the rectum to the vagina or urethra, thus causing yeast or bladder infections. Here in the States, the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Medical Association keep bringing this up, but no one listens.

Superficial vanity will always win over underlying health risks until it's too late.
But you can avoid VPL without wearing a thong- not wearing pants at all, for instance, or not wearing horrible tight lycra leggings over size-too-small knickers poorly covering a flabby ar*e.

I think there are several reason noone listens to people telling you about the yeast or bladder infections you can catch from a thong.
a) Even though they, and all their (girl) friends wear thongs, noone has ever had any problems of the sort mentioned.
b) The people trying to tell you not to wear a thong might be the type of person have a different agenda (people who, for whatever reason, don't think it's morally right to wear a thong).
I'm not saying you cannot get bladder infections from wearing a thong, I'm just saying that maybe it's not as big a problem as some might try to make you believe - and for all it's worth - fashion and health has never really agreed, so I don't think there is any way of changing it (and that's a fact I'm happy about, as I really really really like my girlfriends to wear thongs!!!).

That is a link to a story about a French ad campaign for thongs. There is no nudity, though some people would definitely call it explicit.
I bring that story up because it focuses on one of the biggest problems, that of tweens being focused in campaigns and subsequently wanting to wear thongs.
Is that the sort of image we want teens to reflect upon?

I have no secret thong agenda, honestly. But I certainly do wonder if someone out there is keeping tabs on a possible rise in yeast/bladder infections being reported in those countries where thongs are popular.

Even though I am in France I don't think I should be opening links like that at work!
As for the non exsitant thong agenda, don't harp on about it too much, they might start making anti-bacterial thongs to go with everything else that has been dissinfected in our daily lives so far.

I honestly don't see the problem.
"one of the biggest problems, that of tweens being focused in campaigns and subsequently wanting to wear thongs"???
Why is this a problem?

Because some people don't view Thongs as just a wearable piece of underwear they are something inherently sexy rather than something you wear to stop your trousers showing off your underwear.
Due to this link with sexiness it is only to be expected that there will be some people who feel they are not suited to tweens.
The answer is to remove the link with sexiness for the basic thong, but that will be about as difficult as getting sexual equality on all levels

It's funny that, when you consider a catsuit, which covers more than most, is still condsidered sexy
