Entry: Gin and Bitter Lemon - A13071854
Author: ubernorman - U4572724
I honestly think that, although not particularly informative, my article will improve the lives of those who read it. If you think not make a large GBL, sit in the sunshine and drink it. If you're still not convincedn then fair enough. But I've at least tried to spread the word.
Also I could do with some help adding links and stuff.

There is a lemon entry somewhere around here but am not sure where. I'm sure someone helpful will be along in a minute but until then may I offer you a and say "Cheers"?

Gin and bitter lemon - my teenage of choice
I think that with a little extra content this could be a very interesting inclusion in the EG. It's witty without trying too hard, which is where funny entries usually fall down.
The only thing you'd have to be careful of is not encouraging its use by saying how tasty it is. Gin and bitter lemon is rather like alcopops - an easy way for people who don't care for the taste of hard liquor (and that usually means underage drinkers) to get drunk.

*makes note to buy a bottle of bitter lemon as well as the normal tonic water and gin in the next grocery shop* oo not had that in years, nice entry short and informaative; perhaps the firs...... and secdon.... points could be in like a bulleted list thinggy? Not sure if that'd improve layout or not... I'm just a bulleted list freak I guesss
and theres a few things that could be linked to like the gin and tonic entry etc.... asides that looks good

Hi, great article. It has errors though.
Firstly it holds the esteemed position of...
Comma needed after Firstly
Secondly it is the only alcoholic drink...
Same thing
If a reader has not tried a GBL then this researcher recommends that they attempt to do so as soon as possible.
Including 14 year olds?
For details of how to make the perfect GBL see the article 'Gin and Tonic' and replace the tonic with bitter lemon.
This could use a link to the actual article

How is bitter lemon different from lemon?
While a link would be nice (and should be included), it would be nicer to actually have some guidelines here on how to make one. How many parts gin to how many parts lemon? Are there other common variations?
Many years ago we used to drink something with gin and lemon, with a bit of white soda as well. Smelled - and tasted - a little like a pine tree. I think we were using the soda to cut the bite back a bit. Is this similar to what you're describing?

bitter lemon is a bluey-green cloudy tonic. i think it is in fact tonic water infused with lemon. not sure if its found much outside britain. anyway as the name suggests its not as sweet as normal lemonade.

Hiya ubernorman!
Currently you have the first link as:
gin and tonic. Its worth noting that the GBL does have all the medicinal properties of a gin and tonic as quinine is present in bitter lemon. Legend, or rather rumour, has it that bitter lemon is also a spermicide. One can only wonder at how this may have been discovered, and in turn what use it may have in the future. .
This should be:

so that the link does not read all the other text...
Could you also include a short bit of how to make it - this is better than reading through a whole other Entry to find the recipe. The Entry that you are linked to now (A386840) is unedited and will not be allowed to be used as a link (if you would like this to be in the EG).

Re the medicinal properties of bitter lemon, I don't know about the quinine content being a spermicide, but it was certainly used as a protection against malaria and to ease the symptoms thereof. Unfortunately it would take a lot of GBLs to get to even one daily dose... but you could try.
