Tomato.....its' not berry nor fruit. It is, in reality, both.

The "fruit" is actually a seed pod, and the vine itself is closely related to the Nightshade....(an extreamly poisonous plant).

Until the late 1800's it was considered poisonous so no one in their right mind would eat it!......no...pizza was not originally prepared with tomato sauce....(but then, thats' another misunderstood subject:D))

My father, who was born in 1914 in the southern US, delighted in telling me the tale about the traveling salesman who first brought this condoment/fruit/veggie to this part of the world.

Said that even after he provided convincing evidence(ate one himself and didn't die)the townspeople were not convinced.....and niether was he until years later!

Ah, yes! (wipes tear from eye) The wonderful ARSE forum. The birthplace of all those pidgeons who lay their wonderous wetness upon the heads of mere mortals far down on the streets below (the very reason bowler hats were invented, I do think).
