Cleary states 'sex unknown' and had eight baby turtles float around it after the events of 'The Light Fantastic'.
I guess 26 books outway one Prologue. Headology.

Yeah, are those turtles laid as eggs though, or are they magically created?

yeah, but if the big bang theory is to be belived then A'Tuin must be a he, as otherwise the disc and everything on it would have been squished. Also haven't there been expeditions to find out A'Tuin's gender, but where we weren't told what the answer is?

Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 17, 2003
Well, the big bang didn't neccessarily happen in the Disc universe. And why would it make A'Tuin a he anyway?
Maybe we weren't told what the answer was because they never found out?

The Discworld Big Bang Theory (Colour of Magic) refers to the fact that all the stars are carried by other turtles, and all are headed towards a place where they will mate (hence 'big bang'). But A'tuin hasn't reached the end of that journey yet, has she? (or he, if you must).

Maybe it is one of those questions that no-one ever finds the answer to, like in our universe, 'is the universe's expansion accelerating and why?' except, of course, 'what sex is the turtle our world sits on?' is a much more appropraite question for discworld.

I've read it, but I read it after having meandered through Light Fantastic, a few City Watch books, a few witches books, and a few Death books.

Well the 'Light Fantastic' was the hatching ground, wasn't it? The red star.

Yeah but it's a while since I read it, or any of PTerry's books. I lent my favourites to a mate, you see (she's on hootoo, name of Clare, may be joining us in PA soon) so I can't read them.

I did indeed.
Take that! I did say.

And the words cringed! They cringed under your power. All of a sudden, you were amongst them, weilding your biro (because the pen is mightier than the sword) and scattering them asunder! Truly, when you said "take it", they took it.

Verily!
For I am mighty!
And the backlog doth fear my mouse!!!

Yea and Verily!
The backlog does not even mention the word mouse. They call it the m- word, or if they are feeling like harry potter, It-that-must-not-be-named. And the shadow of a mouse falling upon them will make them tremble till their skin falls off their bones.
