Top notch! We have a hamster too, and this is a great read! See what others say, but I feel you'd do well with it in Peer Review as is. smiley - ok

What kind of hamster have you got? How old is it?

I will make those changes when I have more time, probably tomorrow.

Oh, another thing you might want to chage is the joke about digging to Australia. There's quite a few Aussies that use the site that wouldn't be too fussed if there hamster dug itself home...

Syrian? Is it your first hamster? What's his/her name? Fur_balls represents 12 hamsters at the moment, including 4 fourteen week old babies and two tiny roborovski dwarves.
Theor names in order are:- Salem, Maximus Aurelious, Moselle, Eli, Jeb, Smoke Ying and Bo. The four babies are Eve Ella, Flyn and Alba.
Yes I have my hands fullsmiley - biggrin

Gnomon - time to move on

There's already an entry in the Guide on Hamsters A1097246 and some of the information in this one is in that one as well. But they are probably different enough to be allowed to continue on as separate entries.

You could put a link in this to the other one:

smiley - laugh You indeed have your hands full. Ours (named by the daughter) is called Sweetie. She's actaully more of an acrobat than a hamster, and likes to swing about on things.

I have two cream coloured hamsters, eli and jeb. Beautiful big black eyes, the pair of them. Although Jeb has a hint of ruby in his. They are blackn eared creams, and tiny for syrians. They are brothers, but you wouldn't necessarily think it. One is a walking carpet and the other has a short coat. I've recently started branching out into fancier types. I have roborovskis. They are SERIOUSLY tiny and go like stink.

A few of them, I think. They need more than one to keep the servers working.

Hi fur balls smiley - smiley

Can you clarify whether you're talking about Syrian or Russian hamsters. As I understand it, Russian hamsters can be kept in pairs, but Syrian hamsters are solitary, and will viciously fight, sometimes to the death. smiley - erm

Few more suggestions

Shouldn't the tank have a lid, so the hamster doesn't escape, and where would you put the water bottle? You couldn't use a small dish as it would get full of sawdust, which brings me to another point, shouldn't you use shavings, rather than sawdust, as sawdust can get in their eyes and ears.

They need wood, or special hamster chews (can't remember what they're called) to gnaw on, to stop their teeth over-growing.

The exercise balls, some of the old ones, that separate in half, and open after a few knocks against a wall, allowing the hamster to escape, are still around. The newer safety ones open at one end. As I re-call they come with a warning about the maximum time a hamster should spend in one. smiley - erm

I think most hamster enjoy a house with bedding, even if they do chew the plastic houses, and some tubes, toilet or kitchen roll inners will do, to play in and chew to bits.

That's all I can think of, for now. smiley - oksmiley - smiley
