Right, just a little "how to make" entry. Nothing very difficult about the steps although I'm sure some could be worded differently. Written after finding the still useable lippy I made about 5 years ago proves how long Vaseline lasts!
Be gentle, this is just a fun little entry which I thought parents with young children experimenting with makeup would like as well as the bigger kids among us

Looks fine to me, Emily.
It may be better to say the amount of Vaseline in the ingredients part. Plus, I'm not sure that Vaseline is known as such all over the world, so you may need a footnote to say 'Petroleum Jelly'.
Who knows, I may even try the recipe sometime?

I'm going to soon (it's been a few years since I did and at the time I didn't try adding flavourings to it) it's a good recipe actually, I mean I'm still working on the last batch I made and the entry is better for it as I know what not to do as well as what too do (I didn't mix it well enough so got lumps)
it's fun though, nice and messy
Will go make those changes now

*goes to get a film canister to have a look*
I suppose you could use one Kelli, it's a little on the deep side though, I guess it would depend on how much you made the lid should be nice and secure too, though I wouldn't want to keep it rumbling around in my bag like I normally would, could be messy if the lid came off
So it's not as much the size as the lid situation...smashing idea though

Looks like a good entry so far. Just two typos I picked up on, you need a 'dessert' spoon, presumably, not a desert one. And you would probably want to 'scrape' the lipstick, not scrap it. Great idea though.

Interesting entry.
Minor typo in the second sentence: an apostrophe is missing from "girls"[sic].
Cheers!

Hi Emily
A very good and informative entry, well done!
Just a couple of points:
"This is a really short and easy make and is create for kids who are just starting to want to wear makeup"
I think you have missed a word or two out of that sentence? It doesn't make sense.
and
"However pay attention to sell-by-dates on Vaseline and food essences, if bought new they should have a few years as their sell by date."
would sound better as:
"Pay attention to sell-by-dates on Vaseline and food essences. If bought new they should last a few years, up to their sell-by date."
"Don't you just hate when you reach the last few millimetres of your favourite lipstick tube"
should be
"Don't you just hate it when you reach the last few millimetres of your favourite lipstick tube"
Well done, Emily!

Thanks GB
this is the kinda sentences I get when I just write an entry and stick it straight in, extra words everywhere, glad I've got a couple of good Archangels (and lovely researchers) to help me out

Great entry - I'll have to try that recipe out at some point!
Small point though: "and is create for kids" shouldn't that be 'great'?
Other than that it's really good!

yeah was meant to be great, I've changed it now but I can't remember if I altered the whole sentence or just a couple of bit

Hi, Emily!
This is a really nice entry, and should appeal to plenty of readers.
There were a couple of things I noticed:
The sentence 'And lip-gloss (or balm) is indeed a girl's best friend and one of the most useful things that you can have in your handbag as they replenish dry lips, sooth chapped and broken skin and help for a tasty kiss.' sounds a bit strange - you've started in the singular and finished in the plural. 'It replenishes dry lips, soothes chapped and broken skin, and helps to give a tasty kiss' would flow more smoothly.
Then, looking at your footnotes, I think some of them could be brought back up into the main text. For example, you could have your bullet list as:
-An old lipstick (or a cheap new one)
-Plastic containers
-1 rounded spoon of Vaseline (petroleum jelly)
It's such a non-technical entry that I don't think you need to banish so much to the footnotes.
Lastly, just for my own curiosity, what is the staying power of the colour in this balm compared to the original lipstick?

*goes off to change bits*
Right staying power, for my own experience lipstick's never lasted as long as lip-gloss or balm purely because I've got quite dry lips and it kinda gets removed fairly quickly. However the lipgloss stays on for quite a while and it'll give you a slightly more translusent colour, which should stay longer.
For some reason glosses and balms because of their higher moisture content stay on longer...but that's just my opinion.
The colour won't be quite as strong or covering as lipstick, but what gloss is?
I dunno if that answered the question, but what the hey

Right, I've just made some lip-gloss to check some of my facts...
Right one: take about 1 heaped teaspoon (two depending on how big the spoon is) but if you can get your hands on a pocket sized tin of Vaseline this means you have the perfect quanitity (20ml) to add your extras too (I put a dark red lippy that's too dark for me and a nasty texture, a topcoat to one and then fine glitter to the rest) I used 10 ml containers I had as my vaseline tin I've had a while and was a bit battered but you can reused this container with great ease and can always decorate the lid so you know what it is.
I used also probably mention how to clean your dish, spoon and knife (you need a round head butter knife, which I couldn't get hold of as my mum would have shouted at me if it hadn't washed it properly so I used a wooden kebab stick, which work quite well though it was still a little lumpy)
Anyway to clean use hot water and lots of washing up liquid, wash once and then wipe with kitchen towel and then wash again as normal that got the Vaseline off quite easily and it's usually a to shift.
I'll have to update the info now and as for colour
a) the intensity is reduced but glosses aren't meant to be like matt lippy colour which are very heavy, they're meant to be light
b) open up the actually lippy tube (hard with some but I managed it with the top coat I had which was just a standard tube) by doing this you can get the inner tube that the lippy is actually contained in and there is a LOT of extra lippy in here which you can't get at unless you open it up, this will give you more colour and not waste as much
