"You can't possibly be that dumb"
Careful, empty. The last time I said as much to someone, they proved me wrong
Collectivism
1) "while differences between individuals within groups, to the extent that they are acknowledged at all, are considered unimportant. This line of reasoning, anti-collectivists allege, often leads to the suppression of individual rights, which are sacrificed for the alleged good of the group." wikipedia online encyclpedia
2) " Ask not what your country can do for you: Ask what you can do for your country.
John F. Kennedy
The concept of value requires a purpose and a beneficiary. It requires answers to the questions "Value to whom?" and "Value for what?". Collectivism is an answer to the first question. It says value to the collective, whether that's society, your tribe, your family, your nation, your race, your sex, or any other group or category you "belong" to. The standard of good is that which benefits the group."
Definitions are as numerous as the people who have opinions about it. Or so it would seem.

Whats the value of the global arms trade? I'd love to know a figure but I'll bet its impossible to find one. In fact, I heard that in the past 2 years the American Military has not been able to completely settle its books with the House of Congress, as a fair bit of military cash 'dissapears' into slush funds and black holes of accountancy.
I just dropped in really to give you a bit of hippie peacenick spam about the disarm DSEi events happening in London, but I thought the paragraph above was a damn good try to keep things on topic. There is a march against the Arms Trade this Sat (6th Sep) in London. Anyone for a peacenik mini-meet??

If you know of any peaceniks who'd appreciate the info please pass it on round h2g2 or email or whatever.

well i just looked at the origin of this thread and i'd like to say Zagreb your worst fears have come true..the O.S. has denied the iraqui people the right to govern themselves as a muslim nation..they insist on a "democratic" government...let's face it the invasion of iraq was never anything to do with weapons or to help the iraqui people,,the favct is george bush wants control of their oil greed is the underlying cause not humanitarianism

He won't say anything. Zagreb and the other right-wingers started their own debate forum.

Back I am, why a war when the ONU doesn't approve it, the USA is just proving that too much power on one side is not good for the rest and that's why I don't understand the obstination of England into following everyone of their stupid steps...

I'll save you the trouble: A1052146 The Open Debating Society
It was set up by Blatherskite on a suggestion of mine that we establish an alternative to Askh2g2 due to the lack of any decent threads in there. I am not right-wing and I was and am strongly anti-war. If you look at the political affiliations of most of the members (see above link) you'll see that the majority aren't right-wing either.
If you want a decent debate without all the flaming and trolling then you're welcome. Come and join up.

Since the conflict started I have decided to come back to my homeland because of the english GOVERNMENT position in the matter>I now see that the americans don't visit France ANYMORE but that the english people are still the best customers of our best hotels in Brittany....

Is the subject not right or is my wish to express my liberty of thinking in this website impossible?
