i think this certainly shows a majority of people, considering the amount of people who have signed and the time period in which they signed, i would say that with only slightly more advertising it could gain many more people.
going good

Regarding the Americans ? I havent trusted them since 1776 and the Declaration of Independence . Where did they find the phrase 'and the pursuit of happiness?' It could mean almost anything. If they feel happy warring against other people .So be it, it is in the Constitution. .
Just think of the American Indians and how they were decimated .
The war against Spain? This was over Cuba.
Is is possible to go on but I expect I will be 'moderated' .

I agree with you Tommy, and the catalogue could go on and on - Indochina, Grenada ... but no one wants moderating!

Hello Peachy
Thanks for the greeting .Surely you would agree with me there is no need for obscene language as spoken by Dorian Gray .
Nothing constructive ever came from such behaviour,we are being friendly here ,no need for swearing .
We can still carry on with our protest and be friendly at the same time .Or maybe D. G. cant understand that concept. Love ,

The common theme you seem to have missed is the fact that America are in actual fact Empire builders .
They have taken over this mantle from Britain .Pretty soon America will become the world's policeman.
Whether it be Iraq or Iriquois (American Indians for your benefit ).

i have created an Alternative h2g2 Guidelines for Discussions During the Iraq War at A1000107 for all you guys to look at, comment on, and suggest improvements on. from the posts of italics this has been said to be the way to mke a change. what is there so far is the type of thing i expected, so you can comment and develop it to make it the type of thing that is acceptable and practical to both researchers and eidtors.

as far as i can grasp, there are presently 1 alternative policy ideas, 1 review of the currect policy, and 1 review of the current policy that will be followed up by an improvement proposal.

Hi all, and especially Tommy and Adele. Tommy, I erred in once using the word "plonker" in relation to another poster called Stuart, and I apologised. I agree that there is no call for using obscenity. Unfortunately, given the BBC have made such a mess of implementing this "policy", it is inevitable that the blood will sometimes be up.
I took a look at the two proposals for amendments to the "policy", and they are very well put together, and obviously a lot of hard work has been put into them. You have to wonder though, what is the point ? Officially the W@r is over. The damage (to h2g2) has been done. What purpose will these amendments serve exactly ?
If there's one thing I've learnt about damage control it's this - let everyone know what the damage will be BEFORE it happens. The BBC completely failed to communicate their new "policy" in any effective way prior to it's implementation. In those circumstances, it's inevitable that people will be annoyed - a complete lack of respect has been shown to them. Had the BBC invited discussion on the "policy" prior to its implementation, users would not have been so aggrieved. After all, we all knew the W@r was coming for months - why no prior debate on the subject ?
To be honest, as a reasonably intelligent person, and a big fan of h2g2, I feel mildly insulted by the attitude adopted by the "Towers". We are not consulted, our threads are mashed into micro-threads, then we are very politely invited to suggest ways in which the policy which has already been implemented (in a seriously draconian fashion) might be amended ! It being clear all the while that there is no intention to amend the policy, and that these discussions only really serve to allow people to theorise about future change until such time as the damn W@r is over !
In other words, get the dog outside, throw him a bone to keep him happy, then let him in when Granny has gone.
I, for one, am sick of having my postings "hidden" because I mention the word "Bush". I have not endangered anyone, I have not given away any state secrets, I have not used language which anyone whose mental capacity exceeds that of the duelling banjo player would find inflammatory or offensive. Still my postings are cheneyed.
Lack of respect is the problem, BBC functionaries. Lack of respect.
