Binary Yesterday was 101010 – well, if we are generous and ignore that it was actually 10.10.2010, and the fact that not all peoples have the same calendar, and if we disregard the fact that to equal 42 we were 2,000 years late (and I'm not at all sure this date even existed 2,000 years ago). Many fellow hootooers decided to celebrate in one way or another. Beatrice organised a party at her new home: it was a house-warming party, birthday party and '42' party combined. Unfortunately, I couldn't fly over, but we connected via Skype, and I talked to Beatrice, Fizzymouse and Gnomon. It was great. I hope we'll get a report next week. Did you do something special to mark the day? The BBC servers certainly did, it was impossible to log in. Maybe that shouldn't have come as a surprise, seeing as the PCs calculate in binary. Who knows, maybe somebody with a sense of humour programmed them to shut down? Anyway, if you did something 42-specific, we'd love to hear from you. Our email address is at the bottom of this page. |
