How? Kirk is dead (as far as they know). BTW, this isn't the best place for this discussion as not many people will see it. Try <./>AskH2G2</.> or the star trek entry (do a search in the white box at the top-right of the window).

Unfortunately a new Star Trek film with the original cast is not really possible for more than one reason.
1) Kirk died in Generations and as far as we know it was for real this time.
2) DeForest Kelly Died in real life and so his character might be a little difficult to put in.
3) Leonard Nimoy refused to be in Generations as he thought his part was only for token reasons and had no real purpose to the movie and so would probably have the same attitude to another unless he had a substantial part.
4) All of the characters are like 150 years old by now and so this might make for some very boring scenes of the guys in front of the fire with their pipes.
Sorry to be so negative.

"1) Kirk died in Generations and as far as we know it was for real this time."
But! But!! But!!!
He's in the Nexus now, making him (like Guynan's earlier self) eternally available to enterprising film-makers.
There's no escape.
Wendles.

Oh yeah, I forgot, Guinan left a shadow of her self there. But she was ripped away and maybe this is why an echo remains.
Picard and Kirk left of their own free will. Possibly stopping their echo from staying behind.

If they did want to make another film, then they would just say that they had remained in the nexus.

That might be pushing their luck a bit though.
They are worn out. The Next Gen crew are on the way out now making way for a new set of folk.

amanda,
i laughed out loud reading your list of reasons why another movie with the original crew would be impossible.
i wanted to add how sad it was too see the crew get older and fatter with each movie. and, what the F*ck happened to Scotty? sh!t!
btw, have you seen Enterprise? i can't stand it.
1. captain Archer is like a spoiled little brat with an anger management problem and narcissistic personality disorder [perhaps almost as bad as shatner]
2. too much blatant eye candy, like when the vulcan and some other guy decontaminate each other by slathering some oily stuff slowly over each others' naked bodies. give me a break.
3. actually, ALL the humans on Enterprise annoy the crap outta me. they're all just like a bunch of immature kids in a candy store...
it's sickening...
hey, what's your favorite "villain" in star trek?
mine is "Q", followed by the Borg.
i "Q"
Peter OUT!

My favourite individual Villian is Locutus. (Picard as a borg). I like the race from the episode Darmok. When Picard and this guy are on a planet by themselves and have to face a monster type entity together. The story is all about two different races trying to communicate and coming together for the common good.
(Can't rememer what they are, OH, the Tamarians, that's them) The Children of Tarmer))
Q is great. I liked the last episode, Best of Both Worlds, where he was actually on their side.

I wouldn't have said Q was on their side, his own purposes just happened to overlap with theirs. He is a very strange character...

I say he was on their side as he was forced by the continuum to start them on this downward spiral to non-existence but as he has always been fascinated with humans, Picard in particular, he helped Picard solve the puzzle and save humanity by giving him clues.

It's hard to tell why Q really does anything. The last episode of TNG, "All good things...", explains quite a lot about Q's aims.

You are right.
The last scene we see Q and Picard together kind of explains a few things for us.

ok, who here can't stand Enterprise?
%- | ? Posted Jan 18, 2003
and thinks Archer is the worst captain EVER.
my ranking of the series is:
TNG
original
voyager
DS9
Enterprise

Yep, that's all of them. I would have swapped VOY and TNG, personally, not sure if DS9 is better than enterprise, they are both pretty dire.
