Just wondering, when is Lammas. Is it tomorrow (the 31st) or the day after (the 1st). I know it's usually the 1st of August but it may not be this year since the Winter Solstice is on the 22nd of December instead of the 21st and Beltane was on the 30th of April instead of the 1st of May.
My calender usually tells me but for Lammas it's saying both days. I was just wondering if someone could clear this up for me. I don't get on the net very often to check but I do check my E-mails. I'd appriciate it if someone would E-mail me to let me know.
I'm not sure if E-mails break the house rules but if you click on my name and then the picture of the dragon on the ink pot that'll give you the link. Time to look up the recipie for gingerbread.

Hello- I am rather new to the whole wicca thing, and from what I have read here I can see still have a lot to learn. I have to say your ideas on the whole God issue makes sense to me. One of the many things that is drawing me to Wicca is that I have become very turned
off by organized religon. They all seem to say that theirs is the ONLY right one and all others are wrong. I was raised a Seventh Day Adventest (sp)So many things have happened over the years that I have found myself searching for something else. I would love to trade e-mails or icq numbers with anyone. Just let me know if you would like to chat.

Thanks. I actually celebrated on August the 1st becuase SEA E-mailed me and told me it was August the 1st. I'm a little confused. I don't suppose it matters too much which day I celebrated but I'd like to know which one WAS Lammas still.

well, I don't think there's a specific way, but just get hold of a small-ish piece of evergreen wood (that fell off naturally, of course ) and decorate it with seasonal plants, candles, etc. That's what I'd do... unless you want a full-sized one to drag a Lord of Misrule around on, which is trickier.
Of course you could just make a chocolate cake one.

If you want to celebrate Samhain why not visit my site. I have a guide entery of Halloween recipies but I used the same one for my Samhain celebration last year. If you want any pointers to celebrate Yule, let me know. I've been celebrating Yule in particular for three years now and last year the celebration was REALLY sucessful.

well as a witch would say(me and many others)research many different options before setting in stone what religion you want to be. perhaps no existing variation of any religion exists for you yet. but if your like me you'll believe that you didnt choose wicca and that wicca choose you instead. its not just a religion its a way of life the universe and everything. but make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons above anything else that is the most important.

that is a very intersting way of looking at things, but it does make perfect sense to me. i don't know that i would call myself a witch just yet, but wicca just feels so right to me... does that make sense?

Hi. Ime new to Wicca too. Im pretty young, and my mom doesnt like me reding books about it or anything. Im a christian, and Im thinking of becoming a Wiccan, but my mom wouldnt let me. I doubt its the religion part thats bothering her. I think it might be the withcraft part, because she probably pictures it as an old hag turning people into toads.
can anyone recomend some simple ritual or spell orcelebration etc? that can be done with household objects? Thanks

sorry if i led you astray, professor. i was under the impression that it was whatever day i said it was... there seems to be a great deal of ambiguity on the subject. forgive me?
welcome to all the newcomers!!!

Hi new Researcher (btw, might be nice to get yourself a fancy name (by clicking on your Preferences) since we're up to our knees in big numbers. )
How old are you (if you don't mind me asking)? You can be a Christian Wiccan very easily, I know of several (and in discussing with a Christian friend was told that she couldn't see where her religion ended and my beliefs began), Wicca is compatible with other religions since it's not really a religion, more of a faith, with no rules or ways to do things. So you can fix it to fit in with beliefs you already have (which, to me, is how it should always be) and call upon whatever deity/force you wish. I doubt there'll be any trouble with your family if you talk it over and emphasise there are no toads featured. (Nor warts, fortunately.)
You can do a spell for anything with anything, basically use objects that represent things to you. Start with things that represent elements, and the focus of the spell and your reason for doing it (actually they needn't be objects at all, it can all be visualised). And make it up from there.
What are you thinking of celebrating, or doing a spell for? how much do you know about Wicca- are you marking a season, for instance?
(sorry for the long post. I am enthusiastic today.)

Hi New Researcher. If may be able to give you a bit of help. I'm a Christain / Wiccan and when I first started learning about Wicca my Dad wasn't very happy and my Mum was a bit worried until I assured her it wasn't a cult. I seam to have sorted my Dad out now and I don't think he minds anymore (I believe I have set his mind a rest). If you need any help I'd be pleased to lend a hand. Also I'd really like to be able to talk to a Christain / Wiccan.
I can't remember who I was talking to about Lammas but I don't think it matters which day I did it on. It was round about the correct day.
