I don't think goth is about individuality. Its a clique, of course it isn't.

So it's about finding yourself through finding yourself. But don't ever claim its about individuality.

I think in some ways it is a clique... But doesnt everyone want to belong to something in some way? At any rate if it is I dont think its such a bad one..... Besides its being more individual than some other cliques.
I dont really know if that made any sense or if I'm just rambeling

morningstar_13 Posted Jul 11, 2006
just remember that you are a complete individual, just like everyone else

Arisztid Lugosi Posted Jul 11, 2006
Even if being goth isnt about being an individual I think at least for the most part we're all different.... Like you pointed out there are different kinds of goth and then within that even smaller group I'm sure not everyone is the same....

morningstar_13 Posted Jul 12, 2006
no two people are EXACTLY the same, but we're all too shallow to look for differences. like the pussycat dolls. they are all the same one, with wigs

Yes, there are elements of cliquiness, but why leap to the conclusion that it must therefore exclude the possibility of being individual?
Even if goth is cliquey, does it really matter? It doesn't mean that goths are mean to non-goths, it just means they enjoy being in goth company.

I've only looked at a couple of pages, so I'm not too sure if anyone's mentioned it, but... Why is everyone looking to make a mint off us?!?! Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, is just so ridiculously overpriced! I'm not just talking hand crafted top quality clothes/shoes/furniture/insert whatever you fancy here, but even stuff that's hardly top of the range material- or design-wise. And please don't tell me about charity shops; when you live in a small town in redneck Derbyshire the best you can find there are gum boots and sleeveless jumpers... (do they qualify as tank tops?). Except, I have trouble finding my size anywhere (shorties of the world unite and take over and force somebody to cater for our clothing needs... ) so the chances of finding anything in a charity shop that I would like AND would fit me are next to none. Seeing that I'm not a footballer's wife or the Chief Executive of anything, any clothes, make-up and home decorations are completely out of my reach. Capitalistic pigs! >
