Jerms - a Brief flicker and then gone again. Posted Nov 24, 2003
I don't mind it when people hurt themselves, or risk themselves. Hey that's their perogitive. And it seems those guys actually like pain (just look at their faces when they had the electric pads on themselves.) But when they injure or offend anyone unknowing/undeserving, that really gets my hackles up.
And who's telewest? is that a comms company? And how can they make your keystrokes go weird?
Please don't be angry, I'm not complaining.

Yeah.
Someone was warning about digiboxes a while back, 'cos they don't have virus protection software (I don't think).

hmm. Interesting. We don't have those over here yet. Probably either because we don't really need them and they wouldn't sell, or because we miss out on all the cool new stuff for the first couple of years of it being released. Except for the stuff they test over here, which tends to be about five years in advance, but then we never hear of it again.
Although I do remember seeing one of the first test designs of a 'set top box' which seems to be the predecessor of what you're describing. After their trial period (in 1992, maybe 1993?) they disappeared and I haven't seen one here since. Basically they realised that people here aren't really short of 'net connections, or computer hardware, or cable access; so they decided it was pointless trying to market them, I think.

Really? So it'd be entirely pay-per-view? Curiouser and curiouser...
I'm sure 'loads of people' have computers and net connections there (where is 'there', by the way? England I'm guessing?) but aparrantly NZ has a higher number of computers per head of population than almost any other country anywhere. So I'm told. Along with a higher number of teen suicides per head of population, and higher depression rate, higher number of violent crimes, higher number of homocides, higher rate of child abuse...
On average over the last few years, NZ had more violent crimes or homocides than New York was at its worst, per head of population.
Nice place not to visit, and you don't want to live here.
Okay, I'll shut up now.

I think it is. England that is.
Tony wants an internet connection in every home.
(Hitler wanted a radio in every home, by the way, just by way of comparison).
I don't think it'll be all pay per view, they'll just change the beeb to digital.
