After watching Piers Morgan interview Ted Nugent, it occurred to me (a supporter of Piers Morgan, which is rare over here) that perhaps if folks like Ted are my neighbor, it probably would be a good idea to own a loaded firearm or other deterrent ready at hand.
It is true, if guns were banned here altogether, a lot of people of a like mind to Ted Nugent would find ways to make more powerful slingshots, bows and arrows, or even crude shotguns or explosive devices made out of iron pipes. It's no use banning stones. They are everywhere. It is sad that this is the mentality of people. Instead of finding more peaceful methods of resolving disputes, they revert to a stone age mentality.
It's literally like a handyman who comes prepared only with a bag of hammers of various shapes and sizes as the ideal tool for any job that looks like a nail to him. The Urban Dictionary calls such people "bags of hammers". This attitude will likely persist, 2nd amendment or no, until such people are made to ashamed of their own lack of versatility.
Guns that are much smarter (unable to fire without an enabling device such as a ring) are something these people seem to fear. Can anyone guess why?
