Im in the process of going through the CAO. In the year of the infamous Teacher's Strike. Its not fun. But back to the CAO, I think it is the best system we have BUT its not a particularly good one. the way you have to choose your course before you get your points is pretty stoopid. Thats all I have time to say (dinnertime mmm)

I agree with your complaint about having to choose courses before you get your results, but I can see the point of the universities in that there would be no time to prepare or budget for students if they had to do it after the results were out, could you imagine UCD or Trinity trying to place 15,000-20,000 each in the couple of months before term starts. Unfortunately it is a logistical nightmare, though it might improve with the advance of technology.
Personally I think the later you can leave your choices the better. It gives you a greater chance to choose the right course.
PS My brother is in the same position with doing his leaving cert this year. And good luck with the exams
