i feel that you have left several key ingredients of a good team out.
the first is a "mixer". this member of the team should know as many people as possible, and sole duty in the quiz is to socialise with the other teams, and then relay their answers to you.
the other thing that every team worth it's salt needs is a name. ideally this should be as topical as possible, and in fairly bad taste. indeed, a large portion of the week between each quiz should be devoted to the development of the name. this is especially worthwile if there ia a prize for best named quiz.

I was in an Xmas quiz team once called `Three Wise Men and a Virgin`. I never thought that would be topped until I was in a pub with my girlfriend and a friends girl-friend once - he never turned up for the quiz so I entered the three of us as `Meat and Two Veg` - boy did I cop for some grief for that !

In my local pub quiz some of the regular team names include a group of guys called the "cunning linguists" and 2 guys under the mokier "liquer and poker"
