Only like it in very restricted usage - on hot dog with mustard, or on hamburger with mustard and salad.

A friend of mine has it on all sorts, making me nearly gag by smothering a cheese omelette in France; "But they **offered** it to me", he cried, as if a French person offering ketchup to an English person conferred some kind of culinary status to his gastronomic disaster.

I'm not all that fond of tomato ketchup myself... occasionally on chips or in a burger or hot dog it's nice. If I were running my own household I don't think I'd buy it just for me though (I would if someone else liked it of course).

What I do like is a variation on it made by HP. They call it 'chilli sauce' which is very simple, and basically it's just like tomato ketchup, but it's got red chillis in it as well as tomato. It goes so well with chips it's unspeakable, and livens up Sunday fry-ups too

Ooh, that HP stuff is lovely, but you just can't beat a blob of Mr H's finest between two slices of bread as a quick snack

Always makes me cough, if I use too much of it - hot dog, plenty of ketchup, close in for the first chomp, massive coughing fit

same here can"t stand the stuff myself i keep it for decoration on the table

i generally mix it with something else, harissa (a north african chili paste), horseradish, etc. ketchup is actually a very noble product, but out of the bottle the taste is too consensual (you might say "vanilla"); it wants jazzing up to really flatter individual tastes.

actually thinking about that none of my family use pepper but its always on the table

I tend to use this only in cooking, not as a condiment.
