Last Chance to Nominate

Firstly thanks to all who have taken the time so far to vote in the
categories for this years Peta's. Time is, however, running out for the first stage of this year's awards so, if you wish to have a nomination in before the voting starts, you'd better be quick. Nominations close at 12 Noon GMT on Monday 9 February. So you have the weekend to make your nominations at The nomination page.

I will then get busy on the voting page and open voting as soon as the nominations are posted. Keep an eye on my space or read next week's Post for more details. Things are looking interesting so far with the
nominations that have come in and I anticipate some close catergories when we actually get to vote.

Lifetime Achievement

So far every single person to nominate for this award has nominated a
different person, if this remains the case I may end up by running an STV style vote for this category. For those of you yet to nominate in this category currently you have until 29 February - but this may be subject to change.

In 1999 the following awards were presented:

• Lifetime Achievement - Stanley Kubrick
• Best Picture - American Beauty
• Best Actor in a leading role - Kevin Spacey
• Best Actress in a leading role - Anette Benning
• Best Actress in a supporting role - Toni Collette
• Best Actor in a supporting role - Haley Joel Osmet

For 2001, following a year out for Rupert, the awards were:

• Lifetime Achievement - David Lynch and Christopher Lee
• Best Picture - Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
• Best Actor in a leading role - Will Smith
• Best Actress in a leading role - Nicole Kidman
• Best Actress in a supporting role - Helen Mirren
• Best Actor in a supporting role - Jim Broadbent
• Best Director - Peter Jackson
• Best Song - May it Be, Enya
• Technical Award Visual - Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the
  Ring
• Technical Award Audio - Moulin Rouge

For 2002, the awards went to:

• Lifetime Achievement - Dame Maggie Smith¹
• Best Picture - Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
• Best Actor in a leading role - Jack Nicholson
• Best Actress in a leading role - Nia Vardalos
• Best Actress in a supporting role - Catherine Zeta-Jones
• Best Actor in a supporting role - Andy Sirkis
• Best Director - Peter Jackson
• Best Song - Lose Yourself Eminem
• Technical Award Visual - Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
• Technical Award Audio - Morvern Caller and Lord of the Rings: The
  Two Towers

page, where this year's major nominees are listed and you can
nominate in the relevant forum for the Peta's. This year the voting is
slightly different. So pay attention!!!! There will be two stages to
voting.

First you will be given the chance to nominate your three
favourite contenders for each of the categories, before 12 noon on 9
February. From this I will draw a list of the top five for each category on the 9^th February or as close thereafter that I have internet access.

February the Nominations will be posted and you get a final Single vote in each category so that we can announce the winners in The Post following the Oscars announced on 29^th February, therefore the 4^th March is Peta day.
