A Conversation for Kraft Dinner

KD is called Kraft Macaroni and Cheese in the US--and I've also heard that the recipe is different there!

Homemade KD can be approximated with storebought macaroni noodles and bulk dried ground cheddar cheese. That way you can also make it cheesier.

Some people add tomatoes.

I like Macaroni and Cheese. It's very filling, and could probably be used as a building material, if you really like the color orange! I used to eat it from the pot like a woman, until I got married. Now I have to share! Sometimes, when we're rich, we make TWO cartons!

I put V-8 juice in mine (or homemade tomato juice if my Grandma has sent me some)--it's very tasty. Sometimes mustard and tuna fish (the cheap kind from a can, o' course) is good for variety. And I don't think I'm pregnant... You can make it without butter and milk, in a pinch, but it's not nearly so good. The Easy Mac microwaveable kind is pretty good, but it makes me sad that Americans need things to be so EASY all the time. Like it's hard to boil water, for pity's sake. It's like all those "disposable" cleaning rags you see nowadays. You know, one type is saturated with furniture polish, one type with antibacterial cleanser, one type with window cleaner, and so on and so forth. Isn't a rag and a can of the stuff just simpler?!

Ramen noodles are a staple of college students here in the US, from the three universities I've attended. They are good because they are VERY cheap (something like 33 cents a pack), and come in a variety of flavors like salty chicken, salty beef, salty orienal, salty spicy picante, and--everyone's least favorite--salty shrimp. I've even seen ersatz "creamy" varieties, too. I've no doubt salt is a major flavoring in these as well.

Ramen noodles can be accented in many ways, or used as a science project or for a practical joke. Does anyone have any idea how they get them into the little square?

If you're paying 33 cents apeice for Ramen, you're getting ripped off. I know better than to buy it if its priced anything over a dime apeice.
