A Conversation for They

Is this the same they as in expressions like "they say it's going to be cold this winter" i.e. just a bunch of people who express opinions that are worthless by virtue of being obvious?

Those are others. Those They are known; They're weatherpeople.

I think this entry should be split in two: Unknown They (i.e. all described in this section) and Known They (i.e. garbage collectors, electricians, them nextdoor always playing the radio too loud, etc.)

Does this mean that "They" are unnamed Scapegoats of possably innacurate information. an example would be gossip. "Well, they say that she's been seeing him and that he's seeing a donkey." Or "Apparently there's going to be free beer, or so they say"

By saying something like "They say the world is going to end tomorrow" does this make you one of Them? After all _you_ just said that "the world is going to end tomorrow" and _you_ confirmed that _They_ are the people that say such things therefore you could in fact be one of them.

Not that I'm trying to suggest that the world is going to end tomorrow.

Or that I, you or anyone else is one of Them.

Which I'm not.

I hope ...

am I a they then, I am a "weatherpeople"?
that's scary
I don't want to be one of them
can't I be one of you?
that would make me one of us
then again, it could cause you to join them if I am one of them

If they live under my bed then they must be very uncomfortable. Are They the people who I hear saying in little squeaky voices "Its a Pigsty down here, clean it up" in the middle of the night or is that just the overly strong coffee or the neighbours.

Who ever it is, they'd better not knock the guzzunder over or there'll be a lot more than dust 'n' stuff under the bed!

It looks as if Gwennie wanted someone to ask what a Gazunda was so she could be all clever and that. smiley - winkeye

Its really a "goes under the bed" and its what folk used to use in the night to have a "wee" to save 'em venturing out to the loo which was normally outside in the yard/garden and they used to empty it in the morning. The correct term for this was a "po", I think.
