Judging from their wings and trunks they suck nectar out of giant flowers smiley - geek

If you don't want butterphants around, don't grow giant flowers.smiley - doh

"But they are so gentle and awesome, paulh. Just don't put your feet where they will tread" [Pierce]

I like gentle and awesome, Pierce. If they fly all the time, I don't see how they tread. Plus, I'm fine with putting my feet *before* they come along.

They will have to rest from time to time and having one standing on your foot is probably less than comfortable

Since they are so gentle, I imagine that they will be courteous enough to let me move away before they land. smiley - smiley

I'm sure they are beautiful, though. I can be forgiven for wanting to get close enough to admire them. Do they eat peanuts and bananas, or they look for gigantic flowers to sip nectar from? smiley - huh

peanuts, bananas and nectar is a good guess smiley - ok

It would take all three to give the butterphant enough calories. Those wings have to work awfully hard to keep the body airborne.

That's what I was thinking. Humming birds eat nectar to be able to fly

I hope they don't eat steak.

Butterphants. Humminbird's dinner can't be... dangerous to me.

Well, I had this vision of hummingbirds daintily feasting on very tiny steaks. smiley - drool
