Smokers: Take Note!
Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Started conversation Dec 15, 2005
My Doctor has confirmed what I always suspected..........the rib-cracking cough that I get every winter is due to the passive smoking I endured as a child and while I was married. I'm going to have to use a brown easy-breathe inhaler every time I get a cold now to ensure I don't crack anymore ribs
Thank you very much Mum, Dad and ex hubby

As a smoker of 30+ years, I guess I've no right to speak. But such as it is, you have my sympathy, dear girl.

Sorry to hear that, Reef
As much I know what it's doing to my insides, I don't quite hate the filthy habit enough to give it up. Knowing what it does to non-smokers makes me resent myself for this even more.

bah don't trust doctors, the last time I told my doctor I had some trouble breathing he dismissed it. Besides I'm already on medicine to stop coughs and help me breathe

I stopped smoking 2 week after ex s*** left, 13 year ago. I too get a cough every year(last 2)but its as if I'm clearing throat, not has in a winter type cold, so it too could be due to the past.
I hope it does not cause to much pain etc Coral.

when it went, I didn't need to smokebut it also dropped spot on,my son had had a lesson in junior school about smoking. When he came home, he said "will you stop smoking dad, because of health", so it worked that he thinks I did it for him...shhh!. neither of my 2 kids smoke, I hope it works all their life

I remember once hearing a news report saying that most kids take up smoking because their parents smoke, not me, my parents smoking put me right off, Alex doesn't like her dad smoking in the car when she's there either, my mother in law smokes in the garden when she's in our house and in her utility room at her house
