Chances are, when the flood does come, the people who built on floater will be off somewhere on holiday and the house will float into Germany, or Belgium or something!
Pan, I still have a large carboard box that the fridge came in - do you want me to keep it for your retirement? We don't have cafés these days, but the petrol station has a 24-hour food store...will that do? We have a nice grassy spot under a thorn tree that should'nt get too much sun during the day!

Hiya Pan
Have a quick read of my latest journal posting - that'll sort of explain about yesterday's events I'll do another one about today's tomorrow completely different subject though - Pan wipes her brow to ease the pain of having to read more drivel.
PS Temp here is improving: 5C

Hi, Shirps.
I'm sure Pandora would love to wipe her brow and read more drivel, but she hasn't posted in this thread since yesterday, and I'm growing concerned. What if that cold front moved through and created a horrible ice storm, bringing down her electric wires and dooming her to a cold house?
Poor Pandora!

Yes, yes, but yesterday, the snow on the trees was beautiful. The prettiest day this winter, don't you think? Wish I could post photos of them! And today, damn cold and ugly again. Yes, but Tuesday was warm and sunny. Ah, winter in NEO! Only a few weeks till March!

What if the temps have got that low that Pan is frozen in cyberspace only to be released when SHE pushes the starter button on her computer Will we ever hear from her again

Shirps, I was sorry to read about the North Sea encroaching on your beach house. I don't suppose it would be scrupulous to sell it at this point??
Pan will be ok.. don't worry.
Thanks, Linus! Never say never about us coming to Sydney. I didn't get to see the east of Australia while I was there, and would like to. So, maybe someday!
We're having a bit of a cold snap here in SW England, but nothing like the States. I can't complain when all my crocus, daffs, and snowdrops are in bloom..

Ooh Linus, I have rellies in Sydney, Perth and Taz. Nicely spread apart, guess that's why we all get on so well . One day I might be walking through your day.

Hi mari - Unfortunately, it belongs to my husband and his family, so I have no input, but I agree it would be sensible to cut their losses & run! H'ever, difficult, the old lady that bought it originally is still around & she dearly loves the place so it would be a cruel blow to her.
Ah yes, Pan is OK, she obviously managed to push the starter button - just hasn't called in here yet!
I'm in sort of southern midlands, slightly eastwards - confused?(East Northants) Snowed today - IF you can call it snow! Worried about the plants though, severe frosts are threatened - I suppose that would kill off all the hyacinths, crocuses, daffs, etc. Hopefully, it won't touch the tulips that have broken through
Envy you living in SW - the climate is supposed to be more gentle? Although I can remember back in '75, at easter, driving down to Devon & Cornwall - it was really a pretty heavy snowfall & very cold!!!! We had a little old A30 car which had a hole by the door - so I had to wrap a blanket round my legs - ah, those were the days
Don't think I'd want to go to Australia - all that sun - makes your face wrinkle faster

Of course, you don't have to be outside ALL the time?!
Australia, South Africa etc. just offer you the choice to do so on almost any day of the year. I know very pale people here too - they just sit on the Internet day and night...!

Good point
So, basically, I just take a laptop with me & sit in the hotel room all day? I take it I would get fed?
Alternately, 'spose I could just wear a sheet over my head - might be an improvement
Ah well, for the present I'll just carry on sitting here & shiver & wait for that little ray of sunshine Saw a robin today

Lady Scott Posted Feb 22, 2005
I've been seeing robins all winter. The latest was yesterday morning, just a few hours before it snowed again.

I saw a bald eagle a few months ago - but I was driving along a highway in Va as it soared overhead, so I didn't get a really good look at it.
There are occasionally bald eagles in the wooded area on my mom's farm though, they're just too far away for me to really see them very well.
Cold here too - it was 17 yesterday morning when I woke up, and 19 early this morning. It's up to about 25 right now though.
